**Was Reading the Appointments section in the local paper today and came across a few ads where they specifically asked for a “FRESH PHOTOGRAPH” along with CV details to be posted to them.
Now I can understand if you’re applying for a modelling or acting job where appearances matter but how does it fit in to say a job advert for an IT professional , Engineer or Doctor ?..The more better looking the more accomplished ?
Is it not your experience and skills which get you the interview not your appearance so why are you asked to send in photos ?
Most recruiters now have options to post your CV online but in countries like Pakistan or ME where you still ave to drop your CV at the offices , its still a trend to ask for photo to be attached to the CV…WHY ?**
Because person showing up for the interview might be totally different from the one coming in to the work everyday . Yup , not very honest people we are :D
Its because the ones advertising seek a beautiful woman for eye candy in the office work place. They base all their decisions on the external worth of an individual.
In Pakistan they are allowed to discriminate on looks, race , religion , rural/urban, gender, ethnicity , sect , age , cast , color you name it and they have the right to discriminate. You have no right to challenge it. Photo helps them in the process of elimination on all the above grounds.
