frequent restarting of comp

A friend of mine has this problem, he has done everything he can to prevent it. I have almost used most of my resources to help him out, but nothing is working for some reason. He has installed anti-virus and checked for viruses but none were found, then he took off his firewall but nothing happened. Finally, he took the easy way out and re-installed the wins, but still its there. I am assuming its something do with his bios, but can’t figure out what exactly is going on. I asked this question in my previous thread too, but I guess nobody paid attention to it. Thats why I am opening a seperate thread for this one. I hope you guys will be able to point me in right direction.

thanx in adv.

Re: frequent restarting of comp

CPU might be heating up (one of the reasons) .. there can be several other reasons though.

Re: frequent restarting of comp

Also check the power supply, if its HP/Compaq PC .. the PS can be one of the issue. Usually for some weird reasons PS gets weak in some HP models and then they start rebooting on regular basis.

Faulty RAM ?

Re: frequent restarting of comp

Might be a faulty cooling fan, hence the heat issue. Ask him to put a fan behind the 'puter and see if that helps ease the pain.

Re: frequent restarting of comp

hmmm, let me check with him. thanx guys

Re: frequent restarting of comp

seems like a hardware problem to me ..... adding to what the pros said, it could be a VGA card that's konked off ....

Re: frequent restarting of comp

advice him to throw the computer out the window, problem solved.

Re: frequent restarting of comp

ds now on u r on ignore!!!

Re: frequent restarting of comp

I don't think this is Hardware problem as if Computer installs Windows without rebooting then it is Software problem.

Have you installed SP2, Normally this is a problem when you install winXP and can be solved after installing SP1, and then SP2.

Check theat if he has installed the legall version if not it could be due to that????

Re: frequent restarting of comp

Hey Bookworm, are you related to FrozenFire?

Re: frequent restarting of comp

yes he has installed SP2 and he has a legal version of it :D, I am the one who uses illegal stuff shhhhhhhhhh :stuck_out_tongue: j/k

Re: frequent restarting of comp

TofiBaba the awnser is No.

Pagaldeewani : Don't remember but there was an update on MS site which solved this problem. It was happening to couple of my friends and that update fixed it. Do you remember or had a chance to see the error message....???

Re: frequent restarting of comp

if you are still having this problem, we could go together, step by step to resolve this

Re: frequent restarting of comp

Just like ABC

Re: frequent restarting of comp

i had a problem like this once i looked at evrything and found a broken wire in my comp so everytime it would touch the comp would reboot.it can not be the ram because if it was then your comp should not even boot up in the first place. another time why comp would reboot when ever i tried to use my mic on my comp it was having a problem with the sound card so i say check all the hardware before going software.

Re: frequent restarting of comp

I can’t buy that cause I’ve had a different experience.

Re: frequent restarting of comp

i dont know about that because i was never able to turn on my comp with a faulty ram but it can always happen so PD check all the stuff out and let us know if you solved the problem

Re: frequent restarting of comp

Thanks guys for all ur inputs and advices, comp is working fine now. He has somehow dealt with it; since, I didn't have much time to help him with it, I don't know how he did it. But, I would try to catch up with him in regards to this.

Damn, nowadays I don't have time for myself either :(

Re: frequent restarting of comp

Tell your friend not to go to explicit sites… computer gets hot and shuts itself down… if this is not the case then it must be a dewani virus… :bummer:

Re: frequent restarting of comp

KK bhai he doesn’t goto those sites, yeah could be ma virus which is not only infecting his brain but also his pc
