If you travel a lot then beeing a member in frequent flyer programs makes a lot of sense.
I myself am an active member of Miles&More (Star Alliance) and Skywards (Emirates and Sri Lankan). In both programs I have collected quite a few miles. I redeemed Skywards miles for our recent trip to Pakistan and Miles&More miles for our upcoming trip to Vienna in January.
I also have memberships in Flying Blue (Sky Team) and Bluemiles (AirBlue) but since I don’t travel on these airlines that often I haven’t got enough miles there yet.
But to get the status you would have to get these 3000 miles in this calendar year, ie within the next month, because the status miles will go back to 0 on 1st Jan.
well u sign up, u get points for miles, plsu u can ge points for hotels and car rentals and even purchases if u have a credit card which works with the airlines points.
u can redeem points to get free flights or upgrades.
I am enrolled in AAdvantage (American Airlines) and United's program. American airlines gives you points for A LOT of things, including shopping and everyday stuff but I always forget to use my number, so I am leaving a lot of points on the table. Also, my visa card earns me miles for hotels and airlines.
i have signed up withHoliday Inn, Hilton Honours, BA , skywards and most recently Etihad guest. I have clocked up quite a few with skywards for long haul and BA on short trips. I have even signed up with PIA rewards plus - but that was first flight never fly with them.
how can i redeem of skywards miles? does it give somethng? i have 5 -6 retrun trips to Pakistan from london.
I guess I can combine BA and HH to one.
I have redeemed Skywards miles for flights from Dubai to Karachi a couple of months ago. Normally that would have costed 25000 miles, but they had a special promotion running at that time, so I got the ticket for 12500 miles. You still have to pay airport taxes yourself though.
