Frequent Flyer Miles

Can you earn American Airlines miles when flying Emirates?

When I flew on gulf in December '06, the flight out of dallas was an American Airlines flight going to Frankfurt and then to Musqat (or was it Bahrain?). Anyway, I got gulf miles into my AAdvantage mileagae card at that time. This is probably because they are affiliated. My question is, can this happen with Emirates & AA? Are they affiliated that way?

Re: Frequent Flyer Miles

Emirates Skywards has a partnership with Continental and United, but not with AA.

Re: Frequent Flyer Miles

Gulf Air is partnered with AA but Emirates is not. Here is a list of partner airlines and you can see all airlines that work together with AA.

Re: Frequent Flyer Miles

I know it works with British Airways, I tried it on a US to UK trip.

Re: Frequent Flyer Miles

I didn't earn any American Airlines miles because the class under which the ticket was booked was "Q" according to AA. I say its BS.

Re: Frequent Flyer Miles

if its not an AA partner, why would you earn any miles? if it was an AA codeshare toh abat doosri hoti.

I flew American Airlines from Dallas to London. I didn't earn any miles from any Ailrine for that flight.

You didn't get any AA miles for an AA flight? That's weird. I think they are trying to BS you. Have you checked in their T&Cs?

I called them and I was told that I didn't earn any American Airlines miles because the class under which the ticket was booked was "Q".
