frequent fetal hiccups

i just read that frequent fetal hiccups r related to some cord compression n could b a warning sing to infant reflux problem…

is that true?

n what is reflux problem?

my baby hiccuped a lot during my pregnancy, most of the times this was the only indication I had that the baby was alive....since he did not kick much at all and was not active much either.... and alhamdulillah he didn't have any chord around his neck or anything at all....

Re: frequent fetal hiccups

Fazeelat, where did you read that?

Re: frequent fetal hiccups

kiseee *punjabi *magazine main parha ho ga es ne, baray jahil hote hain wo khotay kaheen ke

Fazeelat, please try to include more english and western, more modern magazines in your collection.

Influx problem is when your baby hears punjabi dialect while still in the womb, It can be fatal sometimes, specially around punjabis.

Re: frequent fetal hiccups

My baby hiccuped a lot, and alhamdullAllah, no such problems.

:smack: :hehe::hehe:

Fazeelat, I dont think these hiccups indicate what you mentioned.

Re: frequent fetal hiccups

Mine hiccuped a lot too and didn't have any cord around his neck or anything, alhamdolillah. If you are worried, get a scan.

Re: frequent fetal hiccups

My baby had lots of hiccups too. Doc said that this is a sign of healthy lungs and that they are preparing for when they come out in the world. My baby has no signs of reflux or any cord problem during labor.. alhamdulilah.
Its easy to worry lots during pregnancy. best thing is to pray for healthy pregnancy. I know cuz that is what made my labor super easy.

Re: frequent fetal hiccups

i read that its normal and you should not worry about it. its not the same as when an adult hiccups anyway.

Re: frequent fetal hiccups

Reflux is when fluids from the stomach come back up because the flap closing the stomach is not fully developed. It can be uncomfortable and sometimes painful for babies, but most of the time babies grow out of it without any trouble and there is no need for meds.

I didn't see that part of your post before. My baby did hiccup a lot and does have reflux, but the doctor did not make any connection between the two issues. Her reflux does not require meds.

Re: frequent fetal hiccups

hiccups are sign that the baby is preparing his lungs for life. Pracitcing breathing. I have never heard/read of it being related to cord compression.
