I lived there for few years and I’m going back there again next week for another 7/8 months. I don’t find them rude, they are busy with their lives. They don’t have the concept of gap/shap like Spanish or Italians have, that doesn’t make them bad. Language is an issue (as it will be for any other place on earth) but they tend to keep to themselves which I like.
I’ve been to many places/countries and found the same.
I think they’re not so friendly with tourists if the tourists dont speak French. Some can be rude but mostly unfriendly. Some completely ignore you as if they did not hear you when you try to talk to them. It can get difficult if you’re lost. Dont expect any help from the locals unless you’re lucky enough to meet an expat who speaks English. So try not to lose your way in the first place.
Matlab agar koi Lahore aaye aur usko Urdu aur Punjabi aati ho aur koi aur aaye jis ko Urdu aur Punjabi nahi aati. Aap kis ko zyaada pasand karengi? French log bhi aise sochte honge
I think thay have a reputation for being a bit stand-offish (as in they mind their own business, don’t chat to strangers much).. Of course people say that about Londoners as well..
i had arrived in Paris early in the morning from India. it was my first ever visit to any foreign land. i had to go to my hotel to spend a day there as my next flight to Canada was on the following day.
at the airport, i asked at least 15 people how to get transportation to the city centre bus terminal where from i was supposed to take a taxi to the hotel. no one even bothered to stop and help me.
my sin was that i did NOT speak French and my English was ‘masha Allah’ too at that time.
finally, one British guy, who spoke English of course, stopped and helped me like a gentleman…he took me to the pier from where i was to catch my bus. i thanked him but NOT the French folks who did NOT help me.
btw, i was supposed to go to MAYUR terminal…i pronounced it as it is spelled - Ma-Yoor! The British guy, my messiah, my savior, told me talk it is pronounced as Mayo terminal.
