The latest orchestrated issue to have captured the imagination of a few Muslim groups has been the infamous ‘hijab ban’ to be imposed by the French government. Saturday, January 17 will see organised demonstrations protesting against the French plans. People may say shame on the French but we say shame on those who waste their time on such fruitless pursuits.
One group sent an open letter to French President Jacques Chirac addressing him as “Your Excellency” (which, by the way, was not so translated in the English version) before pleading with him to reciprocate the act banning the Hijab at schools, stating that this would be a goodwill gesture towards the Islamic Khilafah when they re-establish it. The fact that their translator did not correctly translate from the Arabic such as “Fakhamat Al-Ra’eess” which should be “Your Excellency” the President, instead mistranslating it as “Monsieur le President” and “Khair” (“Good” - relating to reward)) as “goodwill” suggests shame and embarrassment in a shoddy attempt to conceal the true extent of their corruption.
A protest was made to the authors of this letter at the www.1924.org website about what was viewed as a flagrant violation of the Islamic method, only to be told that “it was important that those who carry the “pure fikrah” (idea) practically show the way - by carrying the Da’awah globally and meeting the challenges facing the Ummah.”
This letter and the whole ‘French hijab’ issue and our response must be put under the shade of the shariah. We have outlined a few points to help clarify the issue.
First of all, carrying the pure idea necessitate total adherence to the method of the Messenger of Allah (saw). It also stipulates that one must not be pliant with the Kuffar and he must not incline to them. Not only is Jacques Chirac a transgressor, he is also the President of a country that actively participates in the war against Islam and Muslims. Carrying the pure idea stipulates that one must not make the actions of the Ottoman Sultan (Khalifah) a source of legislation, as did this open letter. This is Haram without a shade of a doubt. Besides, how could the actions of France be deemed as a "tradition of chivalry and reciprocating acts of “Khair” when khair is linked to reward? Is this another attempt to claim the kuffar can be enjoined to do the Khair and therefore will be rewarded as was one of the many justifications when the same group was writing begging letters to Amnesty International and other Human Rights Organisations? Has not Allah (swt) already informed us that “Anyone who chooses a deen other than Islam, it will never be accepted from them and they will be amongst the losers in the hereafter” (TMQ 3-185).
He (swt) also says:
But the Unbelievers their (good) deeds are like a mirage in sandy deserts which the man parched with thirst mistakes for water; until when he comes up to it he finds it to be nothing: but he finds Allah (ever) with him and Allah will pay him his account: and Allah is swift in taking account. (TMQ Al-Nur:39)
Who can judge the extremely unlikely change of mind by Chirac as a “good” gesture towards the Islamic State? Is it not obvious that good and bad are judged by Shari’ah and not by reason? Is it not obvious that whatever contradicts Islam is Kufr and that whatever agrees with Islam is also Kufr should the basis from which they emanate is Kufr? Therefore, how could an action not based on Islam, i.e. not emanating from the Islamic Aqeedah be deemed as a Khair?
Furthermore, pleading with the kuffar over any anti-Islamic action is absurd. Has Allah (swt) not told us that "As for unbelievers: they will not stop fighting until they succeed in turning you back from your Deen if they can. (TMQ Al-Baqara:217)
O believers! Do not make intimate Bitanah with any but with your own people. The unbelievers will not miss any opportunity to corrupt you. They desire nothing but your destruction: their malice has become evident from what they say; and what they conceal in their hearts is far worse. We have made Our revelations plain to you, if you do want to comprehend. TMQ Al-Imran:118
We say to our Muslim brothers and sisters in France: “If your daughters were not allowed to wear the compulsory Islamic dress, then do not send them to school. It is more fitting for them to abide by Islam than to get an education. And if you are persecuted and cannot practise your deen, then leave. Move elsewhere. Do not plead with Jacques Chirac. He is a Kafir who hates Islam and hates Muslims. Do not jump from the frying pan into the fire.”
We pray the brothers who carry the “pure idea” would pause and ponder over the verses below. Maybe, they will be able to discern the error of their ways.
Allah (swt) Says: “Therefore stand firm (in the straight Path) as you are commanded,- you and those who have repented with you ; and transgress not (from the Path): for He sees well all that ye do. And incline not to those who do wrong, or the Fire will seize you; and ye have no protectors other than Allah, nor shall ye be helped.” [TMQ 11-112,113]
He (swt) also says: “And had We not given you strength, they wouldst nearly have inclined to them a little”. [TMQ17-74].
Let us work together with resolve and determination to establish this Deen, thereby reviving the Ummah. Truly the French hijab’ issue is a red herring and should be treated as such. It is an eternal principle that Kafir hate Islam and Muslims. The French are a particularly arrogant version of this hatred. They are a chauvinist pompous nation but surely better the enemy we can see than those snakes in Washington and London who smile whilst they devise sinister plans to destroy al-Islam and Muslims.
