French fries

**I could never get them crispy and nicely done the way they are at Mcdonlds’ etc. I saw Chef zakir putting rice flour in them, also i heard corn flour or plain flour works but apparently none of them did.

This time i tried putting them in cold sugar solution and they turned out exactly the way i wanted. So i thought to share this with those who dont like a soggy fry. There you go girls. **

Re: French fries

wow thanks jalpari for sharing :hugz:

how much sugar in how much water ? can you share the quantity please ?

Re: French fries

Osmosis zindabad.

**It was 3 potatoes, half cup sugar and 2 cups ice cold water. I ground the sugar to powder so it dissolves easily. Then soaked fries in the solution for about 15 minutes. Drain, dry and then deep fry.

Re: French fries

^ thanks

Great, thanks for sharing...but what worries me is how much sugar goes into those fries....so doomed to loose weight :(

Re: French fries

Lose weight? lol

Re: French fries

did the fries get a sweet-ish taste jalpari?

Re: French fries

^Not really. You couldn't tell they were put in sugar solution.

Re: French fries

there is another idea....... cut fries and then freeze them..... n then fry these freezed fries they r exactly the same like mcdonalds.........

Re: French fries

Re: French fries

oooo new methods of cooking fries.. :D thanks

Re: French fries

Just my tuppence worth here.....

........but if you soak the cut potaotes and then pat them dry on a tea towel before frying, they do go nice and crisp.I believe it's the starch that makes then soggy.

I was thinking the same thing…school is getting to me :bummer:
