Freezing imli-date chutney

Can I freeze imli-date chutney, do I need to do/know anything in particular about freezing/de-frosting this kind of chutney?

Thanks.

Re: Freezing imli-date chutney

I just make and freez this chatni in a glass bottle
I just take it out before 5 minutes and take desired quantity with a spoon its so easy andconvenient

Re: Freezing imli-date chutney

freeze in small amounts [one-use sizes] so you don't have to freeze and re-freeze chutney! :0

i LOVE this chutney! :) can you email me some? :)

Re: Freezing imli-date chutney

Re: Freezing imli-date chutney

I made a big batch last week. Imli pulp, pureed dates (soaked, boiled and pureed), brown sugar, ginger powder, salt, red chilli powder, cinnamon stick, cloves, zeera powder -->> mix, cook and simmer to get a thick chutney.

Re: Freezing imli-date chutney

Sounds delicious! What do you serve this with?

Re: Freezing imli-date chutney

Of course you can!!!!!!! Dates have a lot of sugar, you're gonna add sugar to make chutney too. Sugar is a preservative. If you freeze it in airtight container, it should last you. I like the idea of doing small batches and containers. Then you can defrost only the amount you need. Not all of it. Sometimes what I do is make plum paste and freeze it. Then when I have to make biryani masala I use it. These kinds of things are very convenient that way.

I've had imli date chutney with samosa chaat and also dhai bhalle/pakoriyan. Very common in Ramadan.

Re: Freezing imli-date chutney

Since its not freez hard you can easily take out desired quantity from jar with a spoon.
Else depending on you.

Re: Freezing imli-date chutney

with anything fried (pakoray samosay etc), homemade dahi baray/chaats or with veggie bhujiya (bhindi/aalu/karelay/tori etc)

^ I followed this.

I am thinking to freeze it in ice cube trray, and then pop the cubes out and put them in ziploc.

Happy chutnying everyone
