Freezer burn

What the hell causes freezer burn? I am so irritated that everything I attempt to freeze (ie. fruit, or keema) ends up with freezer burn after a couple weeks. I am using ziplock freezer bags. I have also used plastic containers, but that don’t work either.

Re: Freezer burn

I think the key to preventing freezer burn is to make sure there is no air left in the bag when you seal it. Try to remove all the air and hopefully that will help. Plus there is always a time limit for how long each food should be frozen, so make sure the food is not sitting in the freezer for too long.

Re: Freezer burn

Don't eat frozen stuff, have cheese and crackers instead. Very versatile.

Re: Freezer burn

I had this problem as well, I know food isn't meant to be kept in the freezer for that long either but even after a week or so I'd get freezer burn on items inside. I don't know whether this was the actual cause of it but I resolved it buy turning the temperature of the freezer down a fraction.
