Freeze foods

What can i cook & freeze & it will be the same when u defrost & heat it?
I wont be home at lunch time now so I want to cook food for the weekdays during the weekends & freeze it so that mum has to simply defrost it & heat it & serve for dad & siblings.

Re: Freeze foods

Shami Kabab and kacha qeema for kachay qeemay ke kabab freeze well

All types of salans freeze well...Ive frozen karhai, simple chicken salan, bhuna huwa qeema, gosht ka salan, etc.

Rice Im not sure about as Ive never frozen it personally

I would imagine daal freezes well too

Dont freeze things like dahi baray or karhi...it will be come watery

koftas,daals,kebabs.....

Re: Freeze foods

As other posters have said most things can be frozen.

Just don't leave too long before eating them and they should be fine.

Re: Freeze foods

proper containers are important as well.

Re: Freeze foods

Nihari, haleem and marinated chicken (though you need to bake it later) are the best.

What kind?

ok i have a question..for example i cooked keema today... add half in a container and freeze it..so when i take it out from the freezer what do i have to do

should i just defrost it in microwave or anything else to do?

ones that seal properly so you dont get aroma out or in, and dont get the stuff freezer burnt

you can freeze karhi without pakoray and you can freeze the barhay of dahi barhay without any yogurt or stuff...

I would heat it in micro or heat it on stove.... I am not big fond of defrost option.

For qeema and generally speaking salans...I freshen them up.

So, you would take out the portion to be frozen before adding the final touches to your qeema or salan. Put it away. When you take it out again, heat it on the stove (not microwave) and make sure you add a little bit of water or oil to bring it back to life. Bhoon it a little bit, garnish and you're done.

yes i freeze barhay for dehi barhay in ramadan so i dont have to make them everyday.
