Freeware: doPDF

Another great FREE application. Create pdf from any application that supports printing:

“doPDF5.2 installs itself as a virtual PDF printer driver so after a successful installation will appear in your Printers and Faxes list. To create PDF files, you just have to print your documents to the doPDF free pdf converter. Open a document (with Microsoft Word, WordPad, NotePad or any other software), choose Print and select doPDF. It will ask you where to save the PDF file and when finished, the PDF file will be automatically opened in your default PDF viewer.”

Re: Freeware: doPDF

I have been using free PDF995 for a few years now for exactly that. It works like a charm.

Re: Freeware: doPDF

There is also cutePDF that I use which works just like doPDF.

Aasif, doesn't PDF995 brings those pop up ads? I think I used it briefly and hated that extra window that it opens with ads. Try cutePDF it's totally ad free and pretty nifty.

Re: Freeware: doPDF

yes it does that when you print to pdf. it doesn't bother me actually.

Re: Freeware: doPDF

What about indexing? Does it create index automatically?

Re: Freeware: doPDF

Nice. I use Adobe Standard because it lets me change the security settings and set a password to open the files. I doubt if this free version offers the password security? But I do wish I had known about it a couple of years ago because I would've saved all the important documents in .pdf format rather than printing hard copies and losing all those to Hurricane Katrina.

Re: Freeware: doPDF

I’m using a similar tool called PDF Creator, because I find it very, very convenient. I downloaded it from here:

Re: Freeware: doPDF

^^I've used pdfcreator and cutePDF before. This one has a much smaller footprint so I liked it.
