The fundamental rule of freedom of speech is not if one is comfortable standing behind his statement but the target audience are told that no one has a right to be offended by it.
The fact you chose to make that statement speaks volumes about you. Makes you no different from others who put down other faiths. And you are doing this as a Mod - esp of Philosophy and Spirituality.
No it does not offend me you made the statement. It just showed me your views clearly. And for sure, you are entitled to your views.

and once again, southie uncle you failed to see the sarcasm in my post. I was not stating my belief. I was merely pointing the issue in freedom of speech banter..
every time I see the phrase 'freedom of speech and western hypocrisy' I get irritated. What an uneducated statement it is! it is born out of sheer impotent anger at so called 'west', usually from someone who has enjoyed or is enjoying the largesse of the same west, including the said freedom of speech. Only slightly different from that abu hamza mullah who kept inciting terrorism against the 'west' even while his family was living in a 5 bedroom mansion which they got by lying about their status and that of their 8 children.
whoever calls west's concept of freedom of speech hypocritical is either motivated by mal-contents such as abu hamza or ought to have their head examined

is that what you call an argument?
if people want to question western government double standards on freedom of speech or problems it causes it does not make them mad.
You cannot go beyond the superficial, you cannot question the west, you cannot ask why, as they don't have any answers, and instead will call you terrorist, fundamentalist, extremist, mad, you don't like their way of life, you are jealous of their progress and democracy, or whatever just to shut you up. Opposing America and its policies is a crime.
Yet when it suits the US it is eager to get Al Jazeera and Press TV banned. The freedom of expression goes out of the window then.

question to your heart's content. But do it with an open mind and be receptive to information. My irritation stems from those that use the facade of 'questioning' to simply deride or worse, express tacit support of terrorist agenda

great because the western governments policy is so dubious and two faced it should be questioned.
but i will say like i said many times before the muslim countries leaders are 1000 times worse because they don't give a damn about implementing islam or care about the people. These regimes deserve the most anger from the muslim populations.
