Re: Freedom of expression
Sorry for being late...Don't check out forum pretty often these days..
Suggestions for his books...hmm it's kind of tough as i have read him few years back when i was back home...but you can try "Jahangir Ka Hindustaan"...
Hmm Dr. Mubarak Ali has his own views and i am not agreed with him all the time but what i respect is his different approach...
Another writer which really clicked my mind was Mumtaz Mufti(not related to history) but he sounds Secular sometimes but amazing...try his "Talaash".
Personally i really like Nasim Hijazi...he is man of his own...Bcoz of him i developed the taste to read the history books and some of his books was really Amazing Like "Qaisar-o-Qisra", "Mohammad Bin Qasim","Yousuf Bin Tashqain","Aakhri Maarka" etc...
Dreamz there is a book i read was good about Tariq Bin Ziyad and it's called "Damishq ke Qaid khaane mein " is excellent and not leaning towards anyone, especially i remember Tariq words in the book" Aaj tumhaari misaal Yateem ke dastarkhuwaan per Miskeen ki si hai, peeche tumhaare samandar aur aage shahadat hai..." and writer is Inaayat-ullah .
One more excellent book was "Khalid bin Waleed" , though i don't remember the writer but was an excellent book...
I didn't read much about Islamic historythough but Two books which i always love to keep in my collectiion and are at the top in my favourite Islamic history books are
"Al-Farooq" by Shibli Nomani
and "Khilafat-o-Malookiyat" by Maulana Maududi....
Hope that would help.
