"Freedom" and "War on Terror"

The Serial Sniper is caught, Saddam is now out of the picture, could America now focuse on the “main issue” here?

It is sickening enough to see Mr. Kharzoy (Karzai) dashing in his new Afghan cloths and watch his routine showoffs like he is some Hollywood runway model, but its even more pathetic and I mean really really pathetic to see these kind of things happening in Afghanistan when the “Great Freedom Fighter” America happens to be in “control” of the country.

Hurry up America; the Afghan people need their protection and security now. Don’t wait long or there will be no one left in Afghanistan to “free” and “protect”. I hope the plan is not to watch these Afghans die and then implant your home made Afghans (like Karzoy who don’t even have an Afghan citizenship) in the country who can’t stop cheering America even now (thanks to deportation nightmares).

Now my American cheerleaders, will the empty promises be fulfilled?

Haven’t US learned enough? Sadaam, Osama, Jihadis, who trained and financed these people? I hope they use the very weapons against the US forces, that’s what the idiots deserve for their explicit idiocy.

And to think of it that some lowlife on this forum said once that “The US did it all for a noble cause”.

Mash potato + barbecue made out of 3000 innocent Americans was that noble cause I guess.

Saddam is not out of the picture.

american isn't leaving Afghanistan any time soon and don't expect things to change so damn quickly.

Mokadaar wants a bigger US "footprint" in Afganistan so the natives have something to fight.

Dostum could become another Saddam, though, if let alone etc.

So are the Americans there to protect the natives or destroy the natives?

What he wants is for the US to live up to its commitments. Just to give you a run down of what is NOT happening in Afghanistan. All reconstruction has been blocked due to lack of funds. Of the 5 billion pledged for this year not even 700 million has arrived. UNHCR, IOM, and ICRC have moved out of Afghanistan because the western govts are not providing them with the funds they promised for establishing bases of operations within Kabul. These missions have been shut down and made nearly 2000 afghanis unemployed. A country where there is no industry and no infrastruture, a great many depend on those 2000 not just their immediate families, but their whole tribes and clans. There is so much more that is not being done. The ADB has been allowed by the US to backout of its promises to help with the road reconstruction of Afghanistan, which is vital for trade and directly for development of the nation.

Ok, CM, your point is taken and I agree completely. The aid is not forthcoming and winter stares at us again. Much of the funding from the US has gone to roads. I was able to watch an US government head speak to this problem. It is acknowledged by the US. I have the frame of mind of an American from the era of well constructed aid programs from the post-war period. Adbullah Abduallah has made another series of rounds in Washington to drum up support. I have always stated that the US does need to be involved in the rebuilding of Afganistan due to our support for the Mujahadin in the '80's which did alter the realities on the ground there. War has a price that is higher than ammo and guns etc. The civil war that followed made it worse. From one angle, the "failed state" of Afganistan is due to US negligence. The Germans are building hospitals and some small amounts of cash go a long way in the country. The main thing is that the outside world must remain engaged with Afganistan and not lose interest over time. We cannot and must not do that. The sentiment is there for caring about the country. I want the misery index to fall there. The present world economic situation does not help matters. To have a strong aid program, the donor countries must be healthy. America can better give, when it has. The chapter is not closed.

Agreed tom, but reality is very different. Afghanistan is not getting the aid at all. The NGO's like WB and ADB, are allowed to fall back on their original commitments. Roads are mandatory but so is cleaning drinking water, which is also not available. There have been no plans for santitation either. The ILO, WHO, UNHCR, ICRC etc all have wokring plans which are damn good. But they lack the funding and expertise to put them through. Rather the EU and the US have the funding and expertise and they dont do much to help. Instead of beefing up the troops, they should be beefing up the technical support.

But you can see how much coverage Afghanistan is getting in the press now to see the future trend of things to come. The US i am afraid will forget all about Afghanistan soon enough.
