Free Fax Services

I heard there used to be free fax services where a website would give you a local number and email you the fax in tiff or pdf format when someone sends a fax to that number. Has anyone ever used any? Recommendations?

Re: Free Fax Services

"Used to be" is probably a key word here. efax.com used to allow free incoming faxes at a US fax number that will be emailed to the user in a properietary format (a free download for message reader was provided). They have since discontinued the free part.

If there are still free services that allow incoming faxes to be received at a US fax number, I'd be very interested.

Re: Free Fax Services

I have used efax for over 5 years. Last month, my free efax account was suspended because I recieved 20+ faxes in one month (because of home owners insurance quotes etc.). Thats their criteria for the free account to remain free. So, I signed up for another free account and got a new fax number.
