Re: Free Downloads - The Ethical Perspective
Which one? I’d like to steer clear of it:no:
I stopped reading too for a few years not laziness though. I couldn’t focus. I thank God I’m reading again.

It is not fair to download books illegally but I think it is equally unfair not be able to read a book if you want to learn something but can’t afford it.
Re: Free Downloads - The Ethical Perspective
If a book can’t be found in our local library and it’s either too expensive to buy or impossible to find any other way, then I have no qualms downloading it.
When authors have passed away a certain amount of years, IIRC at least 50 years, then free downloads are legally allowed. One of the best is:
Project Gutenberg
Some other pages are:
Free e-books in Dutch language
Gratis E-Books, EBoek - literatuur, romans - ebooks nederlands
Current authors allowing their books online for free: Free-ebooks
ManyBooks
Free eBooks For Your Kindle or Other eReader | ManyBooks
For online reading:
Read any book
ReadAnyBook.com
Free Novel Online
Read Books Online, Romance Novels Online
I hope authors understand that not everyone can afford to buy so many books. And some people want to read first before deciding to buy a certain book. They should be happy that people are willing to read their work. Of course they are entitled to earnings after all their work, and people who can afford it should pay. I try to buy the books I like, eventually. But the authors who really love writing, will be happy to make their work available to people with less or no money, because their first reason for writing is the enjoyment they get out of it and their desire to share knowledge and to tell stories.
