Does it mean that the Indian Govt accept the long standing blame on soldiers…re Kashmir, North-East.
“Soldiers stay away from home for long periods… They are prone to seeking sex,” he ( UNAIDS director Ulf Kristofferson) said. His organisation believes HIV is transmitted “mainly through unprotected sex”.
Free condoms will now be made freely available to Indian troops under military orders. The United Nations will foot the bill.
On Thursday, the defence ministry signed a partnership agreement with UNAIDS for mitigating the impact of HIV/AIDS on India’s 1.3-million-strong military. The signing of the agreement was an act of unusual candour on the part of the government, and its first public acknowledgement of the fact that its soldiers are vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.
The official figure for the prevalence of AIDS among Indian armed forces is only 0.08 per cent. This is very low in comparison to the acknowledged prevalence rate among adults in the Indian public, which is at 0.9 per cent. Figures of HIV-infected persons in India range between 5.2-to-5.5 million.
hahah i think it is kind of funny. i wonder how much money they will spend supplying their troops with condoms. atleast they are trying to help control hiv/aids before they have a huge epidemic.
Chill dude…this is the lighter side of life…by the way, last time I checked score was India 1-Pak-0. Where did ya get the 3-0 score, maybe from the same company issueing condoms to Indian soldiers? Just kiddin bro…relax yaar, we r all buddies now..dont take it seriously…
I’m just kiddin, too. I just can’t resist being the devil’s advocate sometimes. But don’t worry about being taken seriously, your screen name makes sure of that.
