Recently I have heard different stories of how people become victom of frauds in different fields of life, like in mobile phones, foods, ways of begging, charity…etc.
Pakistan doesn’t have less talent than any other country in the world. But some of our genius people use it for evil ways. Pakistan would have become super power by now if some of our pakistani friends had used their genius mind for constructive work.
There are so many cases I heard from people about the ways Pakistanis have been using different ways of misusing public phone boths and calling for free, I would like to share few other ways of deceiving people in shopping areas.
Well, following are the facts I came to know from my relatives and friends in Pak.
p.s. Kindly feel free to add, if you have anything to share on topic.
Addition of brick powder in red pepper.
Addition of sawdust in flour.
When you buy fruits in large amount, do check the shopping bags thoroghly so that you might not be surprised by stones in between fruits, when you reach home.
At times the fruits are not sweet, but the knife (which they use to cut the fruit to give you as a sample to check) is actually taken from a container containing a solution of water and sugar. So a sweet layer develops around the knife which they use to cut the fruit.
p.s. No offence to anyone, being a Pakistani myself, just wanted to know how people do fraud in Pakistan so that we may be careful from them in future. I don’t know much about Bangladesh and Indian frauds, but only heard that they are also not less than Pakistani frauds.
Re: Frauds by Subcontinent people and ways to avoid them
I was told by a person that used to work at an airplane company.
If the plane is not not moving fast, then it is a fake plane with added problem or any other problem.
If the plane is moving fast, then there are little invisible people pushing it through the air. Only fast planes that have little invisible people pushing them are real planes.
Trust me! You dont want to be fooled when you're out buying a plane.

I remember that eariler they used to add pebbles into daal packaging. That would make the bag seem heavier/more full. However, it became common knowledge after a while. I haven't seen that happen recently. This was in Canada by the way. I'm not sure if the people selling them to us would do that or whether it was those who supplied them.

Haven't heard about this before. Thanks a lot for the reply.
how bout doodh main water?
I did manage to do the do the free calls thing from a booth but this was back in 95/96 when they first arrived. Dont think it works anymore!!!!
Well, doodh in water is a very common problem in Pakistan. Free calls are still made. Everytime they bring new system, some people are able to come up with new ideas of making free calls.

I heard haleem sold on streets/bazaar has shredded paper in it. I grew up really grossed out by haleem, and can't eat it to this day. That's just a rumor though.
I have seen unsanitary practices like preparing food on side-walks in karachi. You THINK you're buying lovely naans, but that stuff has been on the floor. Meat as well.

I heard about khotay ka gosht being used for nihari in Karachi. Still it did not stop me from going out and enjoying this dish from heavens. I assumed that the hotel I am going out to eat nihari is owned by honest people.
