whoever resides them every night with good intention for Allah swt’s mercy and protection, is said to have finished one Quran’s recitation and reap its reward. and also another reward is said to be that of letting go a 1000 enslaved people.

any confirmational references to this?

And you know, reading them is also best for nazar/evil eye. Make dua to Allah SWT to remove any bad/evil eye off you and your family before sleeping, and then blow on yourself.

I know that many of us recite these surahs because we have been taught by our parents to do so. Just like I recite them and also recite ayat-ul-Qursi before I sleep every night.

How many of us understand the meanings?

I think this is one of the Rawayah which is quoted very frequently. I will look for the reference and post.

good point Muzna. simple tranbslation in own language is absolutely necessary to be read in, otherwise, those who know Arabic in meaning and contect do not benefit from the Letter of Almighty to humankind.
