A single woman arises at the crack of dawn and gazes to her side at the vacant space…
There is no other half to snuggle into,to wrap her arms around and so her thoughts are directed only to Allah…
“All praise to Him in every circumstance.Glory be to Him by whose permission the sun rises and the moon sets.By whose Mercy and Grace she is safe and healthy.”
She readies herself for the working day, in solitude she takes her nourishment, or amidst the cheerful banter of her offspring, reminding them of their obligations to Allah before the day begins…
For even though there is no master, she is the shepherd of her flock and will account for her charge.
When her child falters there is no :" Wait till your father gets home!", instead it is: “Do you think Allah will be pleased with your action?”.
When he/she requires something there is no:
“Ask your father.”
It is always : “Ask Allah!”
Work brings with it challenges and difficulties and she sometimes longs to share and relate her woes to a partner.Instead she swallows the emotions and releases them only to Allah.
Constantly on the tip of her tongue: “Hasbunallah wa ni’mal wakeel.”
People will cross her path and throw stones at her…or restore her faith in humanity.
She thanks Allah for the gift of experience.
Life brings with it happy and joyful moments too, her heart bursts with excitement when she achieves something or her children have excelled. Who does she have to share it with?
Allah…all praises to Him in whose Hand all success and honour lie.
Men who have forgotten their roles as maintainers and protectors make advances to her as if she is a pawn in the game of life, offers of financial security in exchange for zina…she is ruthless in slashing their audacity.
Allah is enough to maintain and provide for her.
The day is done and she rests her weary head on her pillow, her tear stained cheeks long to be caressed and comforted.
So she turns to Him who is always constant, whose Love is never rejecting, Who never abandons.
And her hope is that one day, just as she endeavoured to place Allah first in every circumstance, He will favour her with his Forgiveness,with His
Unparallelled Love,with a lofty position in Jannah…
