foundations

i just bought one in compact form by clinique… and it sucks :@ its totally dulling my skin out… i never ever wear anything cept lipstick and mascara.. so didnt even know what to buy… did a seach on the net… thought i knew what i was doing.. but yuck! ive recently developed dark patches around the edges of my face.. and the dark circles bah! so to cover up i bought concealer and foundation.. the latter turned out yuck yuck yuck! its waterbased… so not meant to be heavy.. but its making me appear dull .. no shine no nothing… by shine i dont mean oil.. i mean the healthy glow… grrrrr… should i be buying somethin lighter?! it feels really heavy

Re: foundations

I have said this before and I'll say it again. The Body Shop makes the best foundation out there ... at least for me. It is great for combination skin and their colours are very good for tanned skin complexions. I have combination skin and use a moisturizer as well, but the foundation doesn't make my skin feel or look cakey/heavy ... if anything, it keeps my skin looking natural.

Re: foundations

Hmm.........Akh! My experience with Clinique products hasnt been great. Their cleanser and toner sucks, the toner has alcohol in it and dries your skin out like a sookhi hui khoobani. The makeup, i have discovered, is made for people with light skin so they cant match it up to our skin tones. If i were you, i would take it back to the store and get a refund if you have the reciept or they should give you a store refund if you dont have a reciept. I personally use Cover Girl's foundation and concealer and they do a very good job covering my scars and dark circles.

Also try Mac if you can/want to. I got the lady at the counter to do a demo for me and she matched a color exactly to my skin tone. And beautiful coverage too!!!

Re: foundations

well you guys shouldn’t buy fake clinique products

just a tip. Instead of covering up try to find out where the problem came from.

Re: foundations

MQ: ahhhh.. i was gonna try body shop cuz ive read how much u love it.. but the store was closed for inventory :@…they have this matte finish liquid kinda thingy.. small plastic container… u use it before puttin on foundation… ever try it? or i guess moisturizer will have that same effect.. so u do moisturizer first then foundation eh ? … how bout concealers… any good ones in body shop? or maybe i wont need it if the coverage of the foundation is good… see! so many IF’s! :crying:

Ira: that is the prob man … no women here to help u out.. only men… :frowning: well i hate clinique now :@ .. in canada i did have a makeover done by MAC… dont remember anything now tho …

Dutchy: some thigns take time to heal… till then .. MAKE UP

Re: foundations

I don’t use a concealer cause I don’t need it yet knock on wood. I moisturize first and then apply a bit of foundation. The one I use blends really well with the moisturizer. There are a couple of different types of foundations at TBS. Make sure you test them all out to see which one is best for you. TBS does have concealers, but I’ve never used them so I don’t know. I’m quite intrigued … they have TBS in Saudi Arabia?

Re: foundations

lol hahahha… MQ how dare u  haha… they have a huge one in mecca aswel! and medina ! haha… u missed out on in on ure trip here… i dont think ive done a comparison of prices of TBS here and in canada.. shucks… body butter here u get for 49 riyals… check how much there .. taht should give u some idea … hehe…

:crying: im still gonna havta test them out !!! sighz…

Re: foundations

wiat.. what kinda foundation do u use MQ.. what is it called?

Re: foundations

I don't know what it's called. It's a liquid foundation. I have the compact too, but I rarely need to use it. I will check it tonight and let you know.

Re: foundations

khatoon-e-khaas,
I have never tried out TBS but heard (from MehnazQ) that they are excellent. Why dont you ask them about their refund policies if you dont like it. I have spent like a million dollars trying to find the best makeup including Clinique, Mary Kay etc etc but have settled for Cover Girl for the day to day wear. Its cheap and it works wonders atleast for me!!! :pretty:
I would still say go to a fancy shmancy mall and have them try out the colors on your. Aray if they dont do that in SA, go to bahrain for a weekend

MQ: I remember the mideast , atleast Muscat having TBS even in early 90’s. :snooty:

Re: foundations

I understand.

Check out Yves rocher stuff. I heard its good aswell. Never used it myself tho :D

Re: foundations

yaar i hate foundations. Can never find one that matches my skins !!!! after the struggle of finding the perfect foundation and wasting my money i've come to realize i'm better off without any foundation. :)

but MehnazQ please do tell us what type of foundation it is...

I guess i could spend couple more dollars on this one :D last time !! :D

Re: foundations

MAC, Maxfactor and Bobbi Brown are all really good.

Re: foundations

Bobbi Brown has the best selection for darker skin tones.

Has any one used "Sheer Cover"?

Re: foundations

have u tried lancome photogenic? I love that! I hate foundation too but this was the only one that i somewat liked

Re: foundations

man I never use foundation, therefore I've never bought any.

Re: foundations

Bare Esentuals: Bare minerals powder foundation… :rotato: It’s expensive, but it beats the rest!

Re: foundations

my prob is with coverage… i have a two toned skin just like a dalmation :arf arf: … the inner face is fair whilst the edges are dark.. with some patches of dark skin around the mouth and .. ofcourse.. the typical dark circles… a woman at the make up counter once told me to buy 2 shades of foundation… satya gayi thi shayad… so if i go for the lighter shade of foundation to match my inner face.. it doesnt cover teh dark patches.. and if i buy teh darker shade .. i look dark.. which i dont like cuz im shallow… achi khaasi zindagi guzar rahi thi .. 24 yrs and no foundation.. suddenly the need arises

MQ: stil waiting for the name of ure foundation :tapping her do patti chappal:

Re: foundations

/\

there is this cream on the market to remove those black parts
I dont know the nam tho. :konfused:

I ll ask around

Re: foundations

Khawa, I just checked and it doesn't have a name.

Be very, very, careful using any products that will lighten your skin, and I'm not talking about foundations. You don't want something that will bleach those patches and make it even lighter and uneven with the rest of your skin tone. Have you gone to see a dermatologist?
