Foundation

Re: FOUNDATIONS

I had the same question a week back, got a lot of helpful suggestions here:
http://www.paklinks.com/gs/fashion-beauty/290058-what-brand-shade-foundation-do-you-use.html

Where can you buy that from?

Re: FOUNDATIONS

Makeup Forever brand rocks! I use their concealer and I bet the foundation is good too. They're available at Sephora.

Re: FOUNDATIONS

^what's good about it?

MAC's studio fix foundation goes-on really smooth when applied with the fibre brush.

Re: FOUNDATIONS

hey ami, i got some really good tips from a professional makeup artist recently, who works for the camera mainly. but she has also does brides. other people were advising me to go for foundations made for the camera - the stuff you can find at www.camerareadycosmetics.com etc but she understood my predicament being a non-professional as i wouldn’t know what to go for or get a good colour match buying online.
she also said that brides don’t only need to look good in front of the camera, but also in real life and their makeup needs to last all day. in these situations she does use MAC, because whatever professionals might usually say about MAC it does look great in real life.
since i have oil issues she told me to first apply face to face super matte antishine, it’s a professional product and she says she uses it all the time.
for a foundation she suggested MAC studio finish concealer, yes a concealer! i had heard that this was good to use as a foundation from various sources before too, so i trust her. for heavy coverage, use alone (under the eyes etc) and then mixed with MAC Oil Control Moisturiser to form a foundation for the rest of the face. She then sets with a lot of MAC Studio Sheer Pressed Powder - she doesn’t like any of MACs other powders though. Oh and she said to go about 2 shades lighter for the powder as it oxidises and becomes darker on the face.
This is a really affordable and hopefully fail-safe technique.
My cousin just had her mehndi the other night, she has bad acne scarring so she was wearing the concealer almost all over her face as it was, with a little foundation on top. she looked amazing the whole night and in all the pictures.

For me the concealer is very light and goes on perfectly on my eyes, no one could tell I was using something. Plus once it is applied it doesn't wear off for at least 4-5 hours. May even last longer probably.

Re: Foundation

MUFE is supposed to have good products but it's hard to get hold of in the UK and buying foundation etc online is not a good idea unless you know for sure what shade you are.

Re: Foundation

I've been using foundation by Benefits for the past year. I even had them use it on my wedding day. For concealer, I use one by Cargo. Sephora carries the best foundations cause they have a large variety. Get a sample of different ones and see how they look in natural light.

I tried the whole tinted moisturizer thing (I tried one last year by Stila) and it was just awful on my skin eventhough it won awards.

I, personally, do not like MAC. The colours are just wrong for most desi girls complexion, which makes it far more visible and noticeable on the skin. It also feels too heavy and cakey, which I do not like.

Re: Foundation

Thanks Stoppit, very useful tips. I too have heard of makeup artists applying replacing foundation with concealer.

I definitely need the face to face antishine product. You can buy it from Screen Face (London). It's a shop that sells makeup etc for stage and tv.

hey thanks! gosh i wish i had known that before. i just bought it last night directly from make-up international's website (took me ages to find the website).
but i was in Covent Garden today and could have picked it up from screen face london and saved on the shipping!

ahh well, next time!

i picked up the concealer today, it's a better match than any foundation i have tired (mac and non-mac) so let's see how it goes!

what! one may not like the look and feel of MAC foundations... and also the risk that they might break you out but they have the perfect shades for Asian skin tones. that's like part of the whole point of MAC! it's mostly white girls who have problems with a colour match.

Re: Foundation

^ I too used to used to use Mac Foundationbut it didn't do anything for me and the colour was never right for me. I think I'm inbetween two different shades. I now use Prescriptives, which I think is also great for asian skin tones. They also have one of the widest colour selections and if you still can't find a match, you can get one custom-made (although pricey).

Also hear that Bobbi Brown is meant to be good for asain skintones although never tried it myself.

Re: Foundation

I use nouba compact foundation. Before putting on the foundation i use normal creme, oor foundation ke baad regular facial powder.

Re: Foundation

i just bought youngblood loose mineral foundation yesterday... its absolutely great... i have been using mac for about 2 years... and now i will def. switch to youngblood loose powder... its so light yet covering like ALL THOSE ERRORS on your face.. hehe :D

Re: Foundation

I feel mac is the best for me, if you feel its too cakey go for the mineralize foundation or any lighter one, they offer so many different types.I have a light and a full coverge one.

Re: Foundation

wat foudation is gud for drry skin//

estee lauders - doublewear and estee lauder - Resiliance lift are just fabulous! really good for both dry/greasy skin.

the mineral foundations are quite popular with a lot of people and they are really for people with normal to dry skin, so you could try one of these.

Re: Foundation

i use MACs studio fix, but my face still get really oily and i have to reapply it after every 30 mins
