foundation for work?

Hey girls,

I wanted to get your advice on what foundation I should use on a day-to-day basis for work. I am currently using Maybelline Fit Me Foundation (liquid) but i find that my skin becomes quite oily after a few hours. I’m looking for something that has more of a matte finish. Also, im looking for powder foundation for around my eye + nose area.

Can you please recommend some drugstore brands that can last long on oily skin? Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: foundation for work?

I suggest you use a foundation like Neutrogena Healthy Skin or Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet Plus (which is great for oilier skin). Finishing the foundation off with a powder is a MUST, esp. if you have oily skin. My favorite is MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural but if you're really oily MAC Blot Powder is great, a cheaper alternative for a powder that is just as good is Maybelline Dream Matte Powder.

Re: foundation for work?

Ugh...I hate Mab's Fit foundation. Its yucky on our skin tones and always turns into a mess.

Drugstore brand...well...if you're looking for something specifically for oily skin then look into Revlon's foundations. They have a nice range that caters to different skin types. I also like the Neutrogena.

Marigold:

What primer do you use underneath the foundation?

Re: foundation for work?

Thank you for your recommendations, i will definitely look into them!

Paheli, i dont use primer on my skin, i just apply my nivea cream and then my foundation

What do you all think about maybelline dream mousse foundation? i thought maybe the texture would be better for my skin type.. but i havent tried it yet. I try to apply as light coverage as i can since i have recently been blessed with acne-free skin and i want to avoid caking on product to keep it that way.

Reha, I actually liked the fit me foundation. it felt very light and i did not need to use much product. i used colour 135. it has a nice rosy undertone which i thought gave me a nice glow but unfortunately it just starts melting after a few hours!

Re: foundation for work?

I think this is the core of your problem. If you really want your foundation to go on smooth, last long, and not get super oily easily.....a good primer is a "must". MAC Prep&Prime SPF 50 is a good one that you can try/buy in stores. If you're comfy buying online....MUAC SuperMatte AntiShine is a amazing primer. No matter what foundation you buy....without a primer and Nivea cream underneath....you'll continue to experience the oiliness and the foundation melting away.

For drugstore brand foundations....Revlong Colorstay is a good one (my mom uses it and loves it).

Re: foundation for work?

Revlon Colorstay is supposed to be the best longwearing drugstore foundation. I haven't used it but the youtube beauty community raves about it :) I personally love the Maybelline Fit Me foundation in the Winter.

Re: foundation for work?

It is actually really good.

Re: foundation for work?

I have slightly dry skin and even I cannot use Nivea under foundation. Try using a primer like Paheli suggested or at least letting your moisturizer (be it Nivea or whatever) and let it sit for a bit before working in your foundation. Also, you MUST set your foundation w/ powder. I prefer loose but you can use pressed and apply it with a brush or a puff. And then a trick I learned from a makeup artist is to take a tissue (the 2 ply kinds that come in a box) and use one layer of the tissue to blot your face at the very end. It seals in everything and prevents your foundation from moving. Just remember to SET your foundation if you don't do that already. Anything liquid or creamy must be set or it will move, esp. if you have oily skin.
