On you tube I notice many make up tutorials apply the face foundation after doing the eyes, I think some do so before the eyes. I suppose it is personal preference too but myself I have always done foundation before anything else and tidy up if needed to after that. So what are the rules if any? Before or after? What do you recommend and why? Have I been doing it wrong all this time? I do apply lasges when using before eye make up thouh because I can usually never get them right in th first go and as a result ruin or smudge my eyeshadow.

I dont think there is a wrong or right - you do what works for you. The idea behind foundation last is that you're eye shadows don't spill onto it.

I agree with Muniya. There is no rule for this. Its all about what YOU prefer.
I apply all eye make-up first because often flakes of the shadow will fall on my cheeks when applying OR I have to touch my face to apply eyeliner. Once I put on foundation, I don't have to mess with it at all. That's why I apply all eye make-up first.

I suppose it does make sense though to do the eyes first so any fall out and be cleared up without messing up the foundation. I think i might start doing that from now on.

I've always done foundation first and then the rest.....and if touch ups are necessary then so be it.
Never really tried to do the eye make up first.
If it's proper heavy eye makeup, then i do that first... cos of fall out. Otherwise, foundation.

Depends on type of makeup. I usually only apply a bb cream and smudge on some brown liner, so I just do bb cream first and then eyes. If I'm putting on proper eye shadow then I still do face makeup first if the eye shadow is matte and neutral colors.
The only time I do eye makeup before face is when I'm getting dressed for a big event and want to use shimmery eyeshadow or dark mattes that cause visible fall out on my cheek bones

Since my base takes time to settle i always do that first . I will still do my base first but from now on i will then do eye make up and lastly the concealer around my eyes that way i can remove fall out of my eye make up. The only difficult thing is not to get the concealer to smudge or cover my eyeliner. Any tips?

I do foundation first. I tried the whole eye makeup then foundation but usually i find that the foundation messes up with the under eye/concealer bits and looks weird on me :/

I personally believe in applying the eye makeup first for a simple reason of avoiding the fall out of liner and the eye shadows on the face and applying the foundation after all the eye makeup is complete and finished.
You only do these steps if you are doing a special occasion makeup otherwise its not that important as for everyday light makeup doesnt require much eye makeup.
for some ppl it could be a matter of personal choice though.

I put on foundation first because it pulls my face together before I apply any eye makeup otherwise it looks really weird and i look like a churail! but then i put on concealer afterwards which also cleans up any fallout bits :)

foundation apply before eye make up.this is a good way for eye make up.

I apply eye makeup at the very last, if you are working with a good eyeshadow base/shadows itself, there shouldn't be a lot of fallout, but you do what you are comfortable with.

On myself, foundation first then eye-make up
On others, eye-make up first then foundation.

Everyday makeup, doesn't matter. Whatever I pick up first or am in the mood for.
As for special occasions and such I start with moisturizer/primer and let that sit on my face then eyeshadows then foundation, contour/highlight and concealer then back to eyes for eyeliner so my face makeup has time to set and then blush lipstick and final powder so it all stays in place and I don't get all shiny later.
With that said, as many have already written, makeup is makeup, it should be fun and you should do what you like.

I always struggle with what to start first but Ive gotten used to doing eyes first if Im getting ready for a wedding or night out because of fall if using sparkly colours but for everyday I do my foundation and concealer first because I use skin colour eye shadows for everyday. If I'm trying to do something major or fancy on the eyes then I start that first even though it always feels a little off doing eyes first.
