I tend to go a shade lighter - I think I look better
Very few people can get away by doing that.. it'll turn-up in pics and diff types of lights as well. Always use one that's an exact match.

I go a shade lighter because my face is darker than my neck. For me, the undertone is more important...like sometimes the color is exactly right, but then in pics it gives my face a pink or purply tint. For most desi girls, going with a yellow or olive undertone is best.
For most desi girls going a shade lighter wudn't work.. majority of the desi girls have yellow undertones. However, a shade darker powder does give a more even color.. but if u're new to foundations use an exact match!

i agree with bobbi brown making awesome cosmetics. I havent tried their foundation but I love the shimmerbrick (shade tawny) and pot rouge in pink truffle.
