I’ve tried Makeup Forever in 153 and Nars in Tahoe and both looked really nice on me, and had a nice silky finish. But they’re like $40 each. The only foundation I currently own is Revlon Colorstay in Golden Caramel. By the way, I have a coupon for $15 off at Sephora on any product more than $35 though, if anyone wants it, PM me and I’ll mail it to you.
left is my face with no makeup…right is with golden caramel…ok on the right i look super dark but the foundation is not really dark, it is actually lighter than my skin.
Re: Foundation Awards!
okay, so i wore the BB stick foundation today. It had a pretty good coverge. But whenever i touched my face i felt like i had so much on my face. I am hoping it will be better with a primer...I was reading reviews on makeupalley.com about classic smashbox photofinish primer which werent very great so I have decided to return it and I think I ll buy a Lancome la base pro oil-free primer instead. and then I ll see how the foundation goes on. Anyone has any suggestions for primers?
and i SO wish I could buy an airbrush foundation but they are soo expensive.
I know I bough the BB stick just yesterday but I am already waiting for it to finish so I can try my hands on the Chanel Foundation. Not good.
Re: Foundation Awards!
I use the strobe cream from MAC as my primer. I have a bareminerals (called bare i.d) as well as a smashbox one but I don't really see a difference with either.
I have yellow undertones and the strobe cream really brightens up my face as well as moizturizes it.
Re: Foundation Awards!
I havent heard of that but I ll def. check it out. No breaks-outs or anything? cause I have combination skin.
Re: Foundation Awards!
No breakouts ever, been using it for over a year. You can either wear this under foundation or alone- it brings such a glow to the face.

Re: Foundation Awards!
I had no idea that there is so much stuff out there..
Gina, what would you suggest for a beginner.. i hardly wear makeup and after reading this thread i dont think i know how to either :(
What do you suggest i should get and how do i go about it.. i mean in terms of what to wear on daily basis and for special occasions. do people wear primer, foundation etc everyday?
Fatso, what sort of skin do u have? normal, oily or dry? And are u looking for heavy coverage or just medium to light coverage =) let me know and I'll help u out!
Shay, I swear by strobe as well =) gives u're face radiance like u've used a radiance brush but without too much shimmer.
Re: Foundation Awards!
Hey Jalebi121, u have a nice face shape and nice cheekbones MA.
Re: Foundation Awards!
I have dry skin and I am looking for medium to light coverage.. Thanks a bunch :)
ohh no...just few days back i bought true minerals foundation from L'oreal and its fine though but now i want to try chanel...i use this L'oreal on almost daily basis..and for formal parties i go for Clinique foundation and i dont know why i bought Clarins and Revlon colorstay...have not even opened the seal for revlon and now it says...its not for oily skin..although the revlon bottle says its oil-free..Gina~ where r u?..what should i do with this revlon one :( ????
for ease of use i always prefer powder foundation...earlier i was using kryolan powder foundation and now when it finished i bought this loreal...but i dont know how does this MAC studio fix turns out to be...
^ U can use still use it, just apply loose powder over it.
Fatso, for medium coverage and since u dont use foundation too often u can begin with a tinted oil-free moisturizer Clarins has good ones. =)
Re: Foundation Awards!
Gina, is it necessary to use powder over foundation? If yes, which powder do you recommend...I have oily skin and the foundation I use is by Chanel.
Re: Foundation Awards!
Okay, Im looking for a foundation. I like the MUFE a lot but feel its really cakey for me. I think it will lead me to breakouts and Id rather avoid that. I can feel it clogging my pores.
Gina, please suggest a foundation for me. Ive got sensitive skin, a little oily in my T-zone, a little sanwali and have a lot of red/pink in my face. Looking for a foundation with medium to full coverage. I use either a primer or sunscreen to help with the redness and it seems to be working well. I dont wear foundation on a daily basis. But when I do, Im hoping for blemish coverage and to even out my skin tone. On a daily basis, I wear Dior Skinflash around my eyes (illuminator type pen) and then Lancome Powder.
Can you suggest a foundation and a powder? Price is not an issue as I like to invest in good products. I dnt wear these things a lot so if I buy something, it lasts me for a long time.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
shay this is a moisturiser rite? so u use it as a primer before u put makeup? can i use it both as a moisturiser and primer? i was thinkin of buyin vit e body shop cream as a moisturiser. can i also use that as a primer??? i m soooooooo confused… is it v important to use a primer after moisturiser or is moisturiser alone ok before foundation?
Re: Foundation Awards!
this is off topic...but since Gina will be here..I will ask anyway. Is it true that tea tree oil works for clogged pores and safe to use on oily skin? If so, how should it be useD?
Tea-tree is fantastic for oily skin and helps with clogged pores as well.
Naqsa u don't have to follow a foundation with powder but it helps the foundation from "sliding" and smearing as it sets it and make it harder to smudge. It also keeps u're skin matte..if u're using a cream-to-powder finish foundation, u dont need a powder =)
PS, IF u can find the right shade for u, Lancome has great light-reflecting foundations..otherwise I love Bobbi Brown stick and liquid foundation =) I use either a same colored powder or slightly (1 shade) darker powder..to set my makeup..as foundation bases usually are pink/white.
U're powder shud be the same color/shade as u're foundation.
G, when we go for foundations.. shud we choose one which is lighter or darker than our skin? cus my sis brought me one but it looks a bit dark(sand color)... what shud i dooooooooo??
Foundation should always be an exact match.
