Re: foundation and makeup question??
ESTEE LAUDER DOUBLE WEAR FOUNDATION is the best ive ever used. It doent give me breakouts and is exact my skin shade .. you cant tell if i have any foundation on or not. Highly recommended
Re: foundation and makeup question??
Hi,
Iām from the UK, Iāll try my best to help you.
First of all I think you need to exfoliate regularly, any foundation will look good on exfoliated skin.
Secondly, If you want you makeup to last all day, a good primer would help with that. I use LāOREAL STUDIO SECRETS PRIMER (about Ā£12) and it gives the perfect smooth base for your foundation.
As for foundation, ESTEE LAUDER DOUBLE WEAR FOUNDATION is a very very very good foundation if you like your makeup to stay in place for more than 12 hours. I personally use it and love it. I apply in morning and no need to touch up throughout the day.
MAC STUDIO FIX FOUNDATION is also a very popular one. A lot of makeup artists use it when they do bridal and party makeup. I will be training to be a professional makeup artist in a few months and I too will be using MAC STUDIO FIX FOUNDATION on my clients.
If you like glowy skin then NARS SHEER GLOW FOUNDATION is a good one. It gives you lovely glowy skin.
Iām not sure if I can suggest any drug store brand foundations as I donāt use them, but one a do have is REVLON COLOURSTAY FOUNDATION, which is very similar to MAC STUDIO FINISH FOUNDATION.
Hope this has been useful to you and helped choose your foundation.
thnks for ur kind info
wt about wonder finish foundation of mayballine..hv u ever used that too???
Re: foundation and makeup question??
If you have dry skin, I would suggest look for a foundation that mentions having moisturising properties. I donāt know if itās available in Pakistan but I use the Body Shop moisturising foundation, shade no 5 and itās PERFECT. Literally blends into my skin to give a natural, light cover and unless I apply heavily, no one believes that Iām wearing foundation - it just looks like I have good skin!
Ok so here are my tips from personal experience:
Wash your face thoroughly. A face wash or cleanser is good, otherwise even soap and water is better than nothing. Your face needs to be clean to get the best makeup results.
Moisturise. ESPECIALLY if you have dry skin. Donāt use something too heavy and oily like the original Nivea cream. Use something a little lighter but still moisturing, which can act as a smooth base to apply your foundation on. At the moment Iām using Nivea Soft cream for face, body and hands. When I run out of facial moisturiser I just use Baby Lotion Even though itās not as good as a facial cream, it still does the job.
If you have one, apply a primer . Itās just a gel that comes in a tube, which you can dot a tiny amount over your face and lightly spread in. If you have dry skin and did step no 2 then a primer isnāt essential. If you have oily skin there are specific primers which I think are silicone based that will help mattify your face and prevent oily shine. If you have oily skin around the T zone i.e. your nose, chin and forehead (which is v common), you can apply primer to those areas only. Also, I think a primer would be useful in a hot country such as Pakistan, where your makeup could just melt off.
Apply the foundation. For dry skin, liquid is best. There are other forms such as stick, powder etc. It depends on the type of skin that you have. Powder foundation is helpful for oily skin. Stick is good for heavier coverage.
You can apply with your bare fingers (works FINE as long as your hands are clean hehe). Just squirt some foundation on the back of your hand then using your fingers dot lightly over your face and blend in gently. Always apply a little then build up slowly. Many times Iāve used less foundation than I initially thought I would need, so when you think youāre done just stop and donāt overapply!
You can also use a foundation brush. There are many brands available. I use the Body Shop one currently but used a cheaper QVC one before that which was fine. But please remember brushes MUST be washed regularly as they are a breeding ground for bacteria. Just use some gentle shampoo like baby shampoo to rinse it out. Be wary that some brushes have a tendency of soaking up the makeup so you lose out on product. There are regular foundation brushes and there are others like a stippling brush which is really good for a flawless look, but you can move onto that after some practice. Some people also like to apply using foundation sponges.
Apply concealer of your choice onto blemishes and pat very gently onto the under eye area. Try not to the pull on the undereye area too much (which I do sometimes:sid:) because it can lead to wrinkles etc later on in life. A stick concealer generally speaking tends to stay on for longer and give heavier coverage. An orange based corrector can be used for particularly dark circles. A liquid āilluminatingā concealer such as Touche Eclat (which is overpriced IMO - there are cheaper alternatives) will brighten up the undereye area by reflecting light, but will not cover dark circles so well.
Apply powder. Applying lightly with a fluffly brush will do a job. Try not to use sponges or puffs as then it can get a little OTT and cakey. In my experience, the best powder to use when starting off is a translucent one, meaning that it doesnāt have its own particular colour and can be used for any shade. If you do come across a powder that matches your skin colour perfectly that good for you Otherwise translucent is fine as itās purpose here is to āsetā the foundation and make it stay on for longer. Iāve used Max Factor Creme Puff powder, which is very good but has medium to heavy coverage, so if you want a natural look either apply less foundation or use a powder with less coverage. Also, there are powders that can be used particularly for the undereye area. Iāve heard Benefit does a good one, but I havenāt used it myself.
Ok woah that was a really really long post! Congrats for reaching the end! It sounds like a lot, but all of the above takes me 5 to 10 minutes maximum. Iām sorry for ranting on, but makeup is one of my favourite topics! I hope it helped! xox

Re: foundation and makeup question??
there is a common misconception Iāve seen about mixing foundation with moisturisers- women donāt mix!!! moisturisers are made to absorb into the skin, foundations sit on top. If u mix them both u let the foundation clog up your pores, and we all know what that means- break outs!!
Re: foundation and makeup question??
donāt buy foundations online unless youāre certain about the shade ! i like estĆ©e lauder double wear but iāve tried all their shades in samples, but none of them is even closer to matching me, and iām fair, but they just turn orange on me or theyāre just too pink
mac is safer because their shades are yellow enough to march desi skins. iām nc 25 in mac so if youāre fair too, you should be between nc25 and nc30
Re: foundation and makeup question??

About the Estee lauder foundation, I read on this forum that you shouldnāt use foundations with spf because it doesnt photograph wellā¦so Iām thinking of buying it cause I have heard rave reviews, but does it not photograph well? any experiences?
Re: foundation and makeup question??
so how do you put them on? I thought if we mix a little foundation with a lot of moisturiser, it would look more natural and plus we use so little weāre bound not to look too made up:S

Re: foundation and makeup question??
honestly the majority of foundations these days have SPF but it is low for most of them : spf 15, so in my experience, it doesnāt change anything for flash photography, just make sure you blend it in the neck if youāre worried. a lot of make up artists use Mac studio fix fluid foundation and it has spf 15 but from what iāve seen in pictures the foundation looks great and it doesnāt look too white.
it would be different with letās say spf 30 or 50, then it would look really white

i donāt see the point of mixing foundation with moisturizer anyways. if you want a natural look, the new generation of foundations provide that, almost every brand now makes a foundation that has natural finish
by the way, estee lauder double wear is natural to me, if you make sure not too apply too much
Re: foundation and makeup question??
