I didn’t but someone at work did. She found it in a taxi over the weekend. No idea who it belongs to so she kept it. Now she wants me to help her get the USB wire and the cd needed to run the micro on her PC. The question is would me helping her be morally ethical?
It is not her Zen micro. She found it, can’t find the owner so she kept it. Are these stolen goods? Or is it the old rule of finders keepers?

The least she can do is put out an ad (newspaper?) without giving out details as to when and where she found it. Give it sometime and perhaps the rightful owner might turn up.

I was going to say what ever happened to good old fashioned lost property service,
what I really want to know.. was why did she take it out of teh taxi.. teh owner couldve called teh taxi co to ask whether they had found it.
But it looks like this lady found it and keeped it too

and you my dear Mr Grumpy will not only be mean but a spoil sport too if you dont help her to download lots of unIslamic music...

If your friend called the taxi by phone, tell her to call that company and find out which driver gave her a ride. They usually keep a record for a month or so. Contact that driver and give him the zen micro. He would have already probably gotten calls from the original owner.

Also, I remember reading a hadith once about finding something that belonged to another. It said something like, you keep it for a year without using it and if the owner comes to claim it, you give it back. After a year, you can claim it. It was something like that. Correct me if I am wrong someone.
I personally would tell her what it says in my religion and that I cannot help her buy stuff for it. But thats just me. smile
