Has anyone here been a foster parent/carer or ever considered it?
My hubby works with a couple of ppl who are foster carers to children with special needs and they said it’s a very rewarding experience, and suggested that we apply for it too, as there’s always a shortage of carers.
I’m not opposed to it, and would definately love to have a child around the house. I just applied for it too…
Now i’m worried.. would they even consider us, being Pakistani and Muslim? (I’m Australian too and the kids would most likely be caucasian or aboriginal)
In our community, there has been a great need for Muslim families to step up and become foster families for Muslim kids who are taken away from their families for whatever reason, and those on charge would like the option of placing them in a like minded environment .
There’s not many muslim families in my town, and since 1974 when our masjid was built and the community grew, i’ve only come across once case where a muslim child needed foster care, and that child was taken in by the Imam’s family for a couple of days. I really want to do foster care, but worried, there’s no “market” for couples like us
