Re: formula help

I have used nan tht was best tried few other also but didn’t suit baby, aptamil caused green poop, S26 constipation, similac caused tummy upset, novalac baby refused, wth bebelac my baby was always hungry finally settled wth nan

Re: formula help

If you are in US then Enfamil is a good choice. However, if it doesn’t work you can try a different brand. I use to supplement my son with Enfamil. However, when I stopped bf, I switched him to a generic brand. He was fine. It really depends on what works for your baby.

Re: formula help

We’ve tried Enfamil and Similac. Similac made my baby way too gassy. Enfamil was great
Oh btw if you’re in the US you could just buy the Target version of Enfamil … tastes pretty much the same and has the same ingredients but is a whole lot cheaper. After using Enfamil for months we switched over to the Target brand our baby was totally fine with that.

Re: formula help

That’s good to know, Wendy.

Has anyone tried the non-GMO organic formulas, like the ones by Earth’s Best? How are they? Infant Formula | EarthsBest

Re: formula help

Thank you ladies…

formula help

Has anyone ever tried a formula that does not taste like iron mixed with water? I want to introduce a bottle of formula everyday but all the formulas I have tried smell horrible and taste like iron so I feel bad giving it!

The only kind that doesn’t taste like iron water is the ready to feed formula but I was wondering if there are any powdered ones out there.

Re: formula help

Every formula has iron. Doctors also recommend formulas with iron.

formula help

I know every formula has iron even the ready to feed ones but that doesn’t mean they have to taste like metal water! The smell and taste is so repugnant that I honestly feel bad giving it to my baby.

I think the formulas in Middle East and Pakistan etc don’t taste like that but I’m not sure.

Re: formula help

They’re not for you lol so they’re not designed to taste good for you either
Your baby doesn’t have a sophisticated palate and will not mind!

formula help

^ You don’t need a sophisticated palate to realize it tastes pretty bad. Honestly I’m not dissing formula here. I actually want to give it to my baby but I just can’t seem to find one that doesn’t have such a distinct iron smell. Of course the baby will take it eventually but I just personally don’t feel comfortable giving anything that has such a strong odor.

I remember preparing some formula bottles for my sister and younger cousins back in the Middle East and I don’t remember it smelling like this.

Anyways back to the question. If someone can let me know of a brand that doesn’t have such a strong metallic taste and odor, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Re: formula help

Maybe you could look into buying some of those middle eastern formulas online and having them shipped to you since you preferred those? Other than that I don’t know what to suggest- all formulas here smell and taste terrible to adults, but none of the babies I’ve known seem to mind, as I’m sure yours won’t either.

Re: formula help

I found Enfamil Infant not so horrible. Enfamil Gentlease tastes and smells horrribleeee and that was what we were giving our daughter before we switched to Infant. Maybe you want to try that out?

Re: formula help

A friend of mine suggested to look into making your own formula. Does anybody know how? I have searched but can’t seem to digest the fact of its safety for kids.

Re: formula help

Wendy…I have same problem it smells so bad. I remember my mom used to feed my younger siblings formula back home. None of them smelled v bad. I actually used to eat baby cereal coz it tasted so good. Lol…I’m not into baby cereal stage.its a long way to go but I do need to add some formula. It’s v hard to feed twins all at once.

Baby cereal is very different from formula. Infact, my child’s doctor advised me against using cerelac for her because of insane amount of sugar in it. She told me to look into ones with not as sweet taste (gerber). Like SGC said, formulas are for kids, not adults. My kids were exclusively formula fed, no complaints.

Re: formula help

I totally get what you’re saying. Babies love their milk be it breastmilk or formula. It’s just that I feel uneasy giving something that makes me gag!

Thanks Wendy. Will definitely check it out!
