Re: Former US President Clinton gives Karachi a clean ‘bill’ of health.
There was no restriction this year on movement of wheat...
Bhai sahib the discussion started about taxing the farmer....
Farmer is already taxed as he does not get fair price for his produce. If the government wants to subsidise the consumer the government should pay, why should the farmer pay from his pocket. Why should there be any restriction on export of wheat in the first place. Why shouldn't our farmer get a fair international price, although in a commodity like wheat logistics is very expensive and even if the farmer sells the wheat at export parity price it is much less than international prevailing price considering the logistical charges....It's illogical to compensate the consumers by making the farmer pay....If the government wants to do it they should pay for it...
I don't know if/how the government controls the price of local wheat being sold in the market, but if government forces farmer to sell wheat at lower prices without subsidy then it is cruel, if that is the case then why does government protect local 'manufacturing' by taxing import of goods at high import-tax?
BTW, we are way off the topic now.
