When Miandad, or Gavaskar, or Rameez, or Yousuf, etc criticize current players, should we view it in context of how they played or what they did during their respective playing careers?
If you played defensively during your playing career, does it take away your right to criticize someone who is playing defensively now? If you were a childish whiner during your days, does it mean you cannot criticize clown-like behavior of current players?
Re: Former cricketers criticizing current cricketers
They do what they are paid for... it's a tradition, TV needs someone to speak and then they have these kind of people who just speaks...whatever they are told or whatever gets the TRPs for the tv
in the above list, Rameez must have difficulty in looking in the mirror...

Javed was never a defensive player. He has won several important matches for Pakistan. Him and Viv Richards were the only two batsmen of their time who could turn the tables on the opponents at any time, they would never come under pressure against any bowling attack.
Re: Former cricketers criticizing current cricketers
I have no doubt about the class of Miandad but Viv Richards was a legend. Most fearless batsman I have ever seen.
Javed used to built his inning and then get unleash after 30-40 runs.
