Former Bush Official: We Went Into Iraq Because 'We Were Looking For a Fight'

Nothing new here, its already known that the evidence for invading Iraq was fabricated.

Former Bush Official: We Went Into Iraq Because ‘We Were Looking For Somebody’s Ass To Kick’: Report

New York Times reporter Peter Baker is out with a new book that reportedly reveals some eyebrow-raising details about the Iraq War.

A senior official from former President George W. Bush’s administration is quoted in “Days of Fire: Bush and Cheney in the White House” saying American troops went into Iraq because the U.S. was looking for a fight.

“The only reason we went into Iraq, I tell people now, is we were looking for somebody’s ass to kick. Afghanistan was too easy,” the anonymous official said, according to Politico.

Politico also reports the book details the differences in Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. The two reportedly “were on opposite sides of almost every major issue” when they left office in 2009.

According to David Frum’s review of the book, Baker features stories not just of Bush and Cheney, but also of former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld; L. Paul Bremer, the Iraqi occupation administrator; and Gen. George Casey, the Army chief of staff.

In the end the US had to run with their tails between their legs, more than 5000 soldiers sacrificed there. The country still suffers from the sectarian fractures which were created as a result of the war. Kids are being born with deformities due to depleted Uranium used.

Re: Former Bush Official: We Went Into Iraq Because 'We Were Looking For a Fight'

Terrorist always prey on the weak... After the thrashing in Nam and Korea it is very careful when and whom to pick fights with.

Re: Former Bush Official: We Went Into Iraq Because 'We Were Looking For a Fight'

What thrashing in korea? S. Korea is still there and actually is more than 10 times bigger economically than anything the North could muster.

Re: Former Bush Official: We Went Into Iraq Because 'We Were Looking For a Fight'

He's speaking without facts. G.W. & Associates went to Iraq because of the WMDs that would've caused much bloodshed if they'd been left in Saddam's hands another moment. Thankfully, after the Mission Accomplished banner went up, all was well. Much bloodshed avoided, and WMDs....well...the point is much bloodshed was avoided and Iraq has been liberated.

ver true, indeed!

Re: Former Bush Official: We Went Into Iraq Because 'We Were Looking For a Fight'

Economy is irrelevant wars are won or lost based upon objectives met or not, not what happens 10, 20 50 years down the road. From military point of view N. Korea is nothing without China just like South without US. When US crossed the border to take the war to China despite Chinese premier Zhou Enlais warning, did US meet its objectives?

Re: Former Bush Official: We Went Into Iraq Because 'We Were Looking For a Fight'

without considering the sanctions? :)

Re: Former Bush Official: We Went Into Iraq Because 'We Were Looking For a Fight'

US objective was to keep the south alive. I knower imam fired McCarthy for suggesting a nuke strike, but US could've bombed China like Laos and they couldn't really do much in Korean Peninsula. Russia won't risk war just because of that. The main point is that whoever the benefactors, who has succeeded on the peninsula?

Re: Former Bush Official: We Went Into Iraq Because 'We Were Looking For a Fight'

This is as naive as blaming all of pakistan's terror ills on drones and you know it

Re: Former Bush Official: We Went Into Iraq Because 'We Were Looking For a Fight'

Americans are spin doctors and very good at that but even then there are limitations, When the Chinese drove the Americans from Yalu river all the way to the 38th parallel this is what Averell Harriman called it a sour little war, Republicans called it the foreign policy blunder of the century and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Omar Bradley called it the wrong war in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong enemy. Never again US has messed with North despite US drawing several red lines in the sand and despite long line of Kims crossing one every single time...

US bomb China!! I'd suggest you dig out the history as to why US could not even bomb Noko let alone China.
