what is format?

my usb is all empty still i cannot save 2 kb file in it as it shows memory is full i ask my couisn he said format karlu

so what is format :smiley:

IS empty or SHOULD BE empty?

  1. to format go into Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) - Windows Key (next to Alt key) + E
  2. Right click on the USB drive that should be showing up there
  3. Cick on format
  4. Put a check in the Quick Format option
  5. Click Format
  6. Close button when you’re done

Very Important: Do NOT do this to the C: drive or you’d be sorry.

thanks for telling me the method but what formating it self? hota kya hai yeh?aur is ko karne se kia hota hai?

I think formatting pretty much means the usb is cleared and any temp/hidden files are removed.

The drive is given a new Master File Table. So all the old files become unusable and invisible cause there is no link to them.
