Formal Wear for Sister of Bride/Groom

*** Its not only the bride that gets to dress up ! What about sister of the bride or groom ! Its a very special occasion for close family members too and picking out what to wear is just as difficult !

I think lenhga’s would be over the top but you would still wanna wear something heavily done up since its a specail occasion in the family .

So what are some suggestions for Bridal Wear as Sister of the Bride or Groom ?

Re: Formal Wear for Sister of Bride/Groom

I have every intention of wearing my heaviest jahez and bari clothes at siblings’ weddings. If you don’t wear them then, then when will you wear them?

Also, I do not think that a lengha is necessarily over the top. It depends on the style and kaam. My younger (unmarried) SIL wore a gorgeous lengha to her brother’s wedding, but it did not look overdone at all. The top had some kaam on it, but the dupatta was a plain chiffon and the lengha had a self-print. It looked lovely.

Also, my wedding clothes are not overly heavy or overworked, nor are they ALL red, which makes them much more wearable.

Dude!! I agree… as immediate family members, it is your right & honor to glam up!! The only place I draw the line is when I see at times girls wear their bridal outfit - red - on the day of the wedding… I feel, that day belongs to the Dulhan… Valima day, sure wear it… when else will you get a wear out of it… I once went to a friends wedding, two of her cousins showed up in their bridal outfits… to say the least, my friend was pissed..

I also dont think unmarried vs married matters much as to the heavy-ness of outfits… ie- Age- a 13 year old shouldn’t be in a over the top lengha or Sari… But an 20 year old, of course why not.

For my brothers upcoming wedding… I am wearing a mughal style anarkali… that has kaam all over the bodice, every kali as well… I’m not wearing a lengha, but a chifon wide leg gharara style instead… only pipping along the edge of it… Dupatta i’m keeping light, since I don’t like to be weighed down… Can’t wait to see it

Congrats!!
