I will be going to Pak in about 2 weeks, on my bro´s wedding. I need to know if zardosi, think pink, Ali zari, libaas-khaas and boutiques(basically in lahore)like those have ready-made suits(just need stitching, but the kaam is already done). If yes, price range plz. And ofcourse, do they bargain? I am not a typical bargainer, but my MIL is so, I will have to take her with me, almost everywhere I think when I go shopping.
Now adays I am deep into kundan and polki jewelery, nice shops to recommend? I can also go with goldplated on the silver jew. I also want to get a pair of anklets(pazaib)–> can also be goldplated. Can I give them the design, so they can make them and also deliver fast?!
The ready made shops are ripoffs u need to go to someone homebased and give them ur budget and amt of clothes u want made in it. I know a lady called shumaila in lhr who does that, sairaji also does that. U can send them photos and they do really good jobs, pm me for both their nos.
they are not "ripoffs", you are paying for the convenience of just picking something up and buying it, rather than going through a little or a lot of hassle. none of that things not being made on time.
you also know exactly what you are going to get and what the finished product looks like.
things could have changed but i think zardosi are mostly made to order but not custom orders. ali's is made to order, custom orders and also has unstitched stuff. i think most of think pink is already made to buy or to have adjusted (not sure about this).
i have never been in lahore for enough time to explore but i believe liberty basement has a lot the same stuff as these shops at cheaper prices.
you can search the fashion forum for experiences/reviews of where people have bought stuff.
@rabrani, haven´t seen shumaila´s work, so not this time. Sairaji here is good, and has good reviews. Still, abit doubt in my mind, since I persaonally don´t have any experience yet, and don´t want to take any chances right now(also lack of time).
@stoppit, u put it so right. It is so much easier to decide when its infront of u and u know exactly what u r going to get.
If I was in Pakistan I would get that ready-made stuff, to hell with the millions of trips to bazaars and dealing with kaamwalay, for what? to save a few rupees?
^ i used to think like that too but the designs are not that good in most shops, and are really repetitive so it's nice if u can custom make something from the kaam walas
i agree with whateverfloatsyourboat, however its allright if the outfits are going to be worn abroad, here if you give a ready made from a commercial low end boutique its usually looked down upon for some weird reason, specially if you give it in a bari.
Sairaji, I am looking for suits I can wear on the functions. We are going to attend my bro´s wedding, and several other weddings of my cousins. So, I am going to need some formal wears. But I was not aware of the fact that there is not enough variety and new readymade designs. Now I am going to freak out... plzz someone who knows????
commercial low end boutiqes--> which ones are those?
obviously im not taking names but people know where you should and should not buy formal wear from because its too commercial i.e common. However, there is ALOT of variety so dont be disheartened and be sure to check out Ensemble in lahore aswell.
