never got the down on bended knee proposal. But I know he picked me w/out being arranged through some parents, aunties, or uncles. It was solely his decision :)

There’s no point in a formal proposal when it can still be vetoed by the parents.

A formal proposal only has point to it when the proposer and proposee don’t really care what the parents think.

After all, how romantic would you find it if a guy got down on one knee to you, in the most romantic location and at the romantic time and said:

“Passo, will you marry me? This offer of marriage is entirely conditional upon both acceptance of yourself by my parents and the reciprocal acceptance of myself by your parents”

Or, less dramatically,

“Passo, will you marry me provided that our parents also agree to it?”

romance and love are then pointless…
I think have good buddies is best! friendship rocks forget about else…and the good point is that no trouble in babies permit or contracepition with only buddies:D

Once his dad asked my dada jee for my rishta and our “baath was pakee”…we held offf on telling anyone and 4 weeks later my now husband surprised me…I packed for a weekend visit to a resort with his sister and b n law, when we were crossing the bay bridge on the way to the airport he told me that we were not meeting them, we were flying, we flew to victoria, vancouver island BC had british tea, he proposed on his knees on this huge boulder/rock next to the ocean…

my husband didn't go down on one knee but we were sitting and he proposed to me and put the ring on my finger. the only thing is he did it after we got married kind of as a joke. it was still sweet. :)

We were both in SF for work/school and families were in ohio…my mom’s response when i told her was “don’t tell anyone you traveled with him”… it was a day trip btw…
