I used to be so comfortable at work going in just jeans and polo shirts. Now since the office moved to the building where CEO of the company has his office we were advised to come in business casual to work. Initially it was business casual dress all week , but now there is relaxation for Friday , we can wear jeans on Fridays.
What can be the logic behind these rules ? We are all IT guys we do not face customers of the company so it is not like, that our dress will have a negative effect on the image of the company. Plus if we can wear jeans on Friday why not on all working days ? The same customers who can see us in Jeans on Friday and would not mind will be open minded not to mind our jeans on other days of the week. No ?
Re: Formal dress at work.
at least u dont have to wear a uniform :hinna:
I remember on days when I would dress formally, slacks shirt etc… i’d feel more “productive” as compared to wheN i wear jeans or sweats…so maybe that’s why the new policy, htey feel formal clothing makes for a more productive atmosphere??? just my two cents…
Re: Formal dress at work.
You do know that for some people casual can be REALLY casual.Overall American Population are really sloppy dressers.
I think that business casual is about the company image. I would vote for that if given a choice

Re: Formal dress at work.
I have never have an appetite for formal dressing … specially at work .. it slays your working ability ..
But from last few years I m bit embrangled into it …. Rather call myself a victim of formal dressing ..
Cruse of working in areas where a daily contact with clients and customers is required ..
I really want to go back and do something different , where I aint required to wear a necktie and Jacket all the time …
