Re: Formal dinner sets

My taste is more modern/contemporary, so I tend to favor simple, clean lines and white porcelain sets. I have two 8 setting sets of the following (in both square and round)
Court 16-Piece Dinnerware Set in Dinnerware Sets | Crate and Barrel

and two sets of this Martha Stewart line that I mix with the plain white porcelain:

Martha Stewart Collection Lisbon Black Round Collection - Martha Stewart Dinnerware - Dining & Entertaining - Macy’s

I also have quite an extensive collection of serving pieces, my favorite of which are these porcelain chafing dishes:

Our everyday eating plates are actually Melamine from Karachi, I have my mil bring me them every couple of years lol

I have 4-5 of these also:

KitchenTrend Chafing Dish, 4 Qt. with Lid - Under $50 gifts

Having a large kitchen with a pantry and seperate butler’s pantry helps lol

this is the Pfaltzgraff set I got in my wedding stuff from Ammi:

I have a 8 place setting set with matching platters and 2 matching serving bowls…I’ll use these when we have just one couple or a couple of extra people over.

I like to collect dessert serving pieces too..I’ve got 24 pcs of these:

I have these as well:

Re: Formal dinner sets

I grew up using these as a child, parents still have these. Lifelong memories witht his set.

A friend purchased these from Macys recently, and she paid a fair amount for these. Discounts and Macys card knocked off quite a bit.

Re: Formal dinner sets

I love dinner sets!

Growing up my parents always purchased household items to pass on to their children at marriage etc. To this day my parents use 9-10 different dinner sets on a frequent basis. They entertain alot, our home has always been the hangout place. disposables are unheard of. Mum has enough plates for a two hundred people; be it Eid, happy or sad occasions, they still use china!

A poster above mentioned her love for clean lines etc. I too favor clean lines. We also have larger get togethers etc, and i seldom use disposables.

Below are my formal/not so formal sets!

The top one and second are by Mikasa Studio Nova, simple white clean lines. Fine china, use daily. Have 20 of each serves well for casual gatherings.

Third pic is Mikasa Radiance. Purchased serving pieces and open stock plates in bulk. Use these as buffet style. we use everything as buffet style.

Fourth pic is Mikasa Arabella. I’m not into floral dishes etc , but have always loved this set due to the olive green and navy blue combo of this set. This is stoneware, which I also use when friends etc are over!

This one is Mikasa Angles set in fine china. Not delicate bone china, but still elegant and simple to use both casually and more formal.

Re: Formal dinner sets

Khatti your kitchen looks so awesome.

My mom has a beautiful white and gold formal set, complete with a tea set. It looks really elegant. For normal home usage and when we have regular guests over, we use Corelle.

I will iA get the Royal Albert set. So love it. It’s soooo costly though.
