How do you deal with forgiving people? Fortunately, we have the tolerance to forgive our family members and people we truly care about… Is it normal not to forgive some people who have caused you immense damage, brutally hurt u, lied on your face, and played with your life. My heart is big to let go off human mistakes, however, I think some people deserve punishment from God so they can learn to be better human-beings. Is it normal to hold grudges amongst specific individuals that truly deserve your hatred due to their actions?

**u can forgive but u don't have to forget. u learn a lesson and move on...use that experience that u gained and stay away from that person because there is a famous line from one of the very famous and legendary Persian poet, Haafiz:
aazmooda raa aazmoodan jehl ast
meaning: aazmaaye huye ko aazmaana jihaalat hai [testing the tested one is shear ignorance]**

**of course...i believe in Islamic apology which involves 3 things:
-the perpetrator must accept his/her mistakes
-he/she must repent on what he/she did
-he/she asks for forgiveness from the depth of his/her heart and mean it
-he/she make retribution if the victim has been suffered any physical/financial/emotional damage
-he/she believes that he/she will go through another set of justice system after his/her death**

Forgiveness is a more selfish act for me. I rarely hold grudges and when I do, they are pretty serious.
Most of the time, I forgive to give myself peace of mind more than anyone else.
I leave them and their fate to be decided by Allah swt.

Allah is the best of revenge-takers. I just leave everything up to Him and forgive everyone. Life is too short to hold grudges. Forgive everyone but don't forget. Everyone makes mistakes but don't make the same mistakes again.

I do forgive people easily but there are some people I NEVER WANT TO FORGIVE because they have caused me brutal damage with their lies...

I hold grudges like no one's business. But I'm also very passive aggressive and rarely unleash my anger face to face. I just grab onto the resentment/anger/etc and let it diminish over time. I'm one scary woman with the ability to remember every insult.

See, I consider that too much work.
The only time something sits inside my heart is if I am hurt by someone really deeply...so far that doesnt consist of too many things.

Most of times I forgive but I don't forget. I have in my heart grudges against some people and I do not even want to attempt to forgive them and on the day of judgment I am sure Allah will do justice to me

I think forgiveness depends on how we have been hurt...like when I was in school gilrs used to laugh at me and I used to think they are hurting me and I won't forgive them ever..but now when I look back I also laugh at my self that how stupid I was to take things that seriously...and then there were some people who also hurt me many years ago but I think I could never forgive thEm...but again as they say Waqt sab se bara marham hai...

I have a hard time holding grudges. Most of the times I forgive quickly, other times it takes a little while. It does show me what that other person is capable of and how I should handle them in the future and if they are to be trusted again or not. If someone loses my trust, it's over. I don't feel the need to talk to them again, but I won't completey ignore them. Just stick to hello hi's.

If by normal you mean if people do it, then yes, people do. If by normal you mean if it's healthy, then no, it is not.
Even if they deserve the utmost hatred, do you deserve that much pain? Holding grudges and hating people hurts us more than it hurts others. It is very difficult when you hate someone to no end, to think about forgiving them. But forgive them to save yourself the pain. You don't need more pain for something that happened in the past and is done with. Forgiving doesn't mean you have them back in your life. They may not be worthy of your time and attention, which is fine. You don't deserve the pain either.
It isn't a quick process. But wanting to do that will make it happen eventually. And you will live knowing that you're taking care of yourself.
