KARACHI: Pakistan’s liquid foreign exchange reserves skyrocketed to $8.532 billion on October 30, according to Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz.
Aziz disclosed this while conducting the first on-line trade in Pakistan at the launch of AKD Trade here on Friday. He said that reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) stood at $6.354 billion and reserves held by banks stood at $2.178 billion.
However, according to figures issued on Friday by the SBP, the country’s liquid foreign exchange reserves were at $8.465 billion on October 26. Of this, the SBP held foreign exchange reserves worth $6.309 billion and banks - other than the SBP - held reserves of $2.160 billion.
