There is so much written and posted about her at Gupshup, but two things which I would like to add
Although whole of Pakistan adored her loved her so much but there was no disrespect for her being a singer among Pakistanis. Like we have this stereotype for singer and actors. She had an image of young educated lady, a role model. who made a career and got married. Despite being immensely popular siger Never made singing a full fledge profession.
Second thing that, often people of her age group or even few years senior said that *hum tu nazia zohaib ko bachpan se suntey arahey hain * (we are fans of nazia zohaib since our childhood days), although it sounds absurd but, I later realized that what they are saying is absolutely true !
Because Nazia actually got popular when she herself was a kid. She became a heart throb when she was barely 13-14 year old. so kids of her age group grew up listening to her songs and music.
few threads about Nazia ( actually there are many more in archive )
Plus, can anyone guide me where i should look for the video of that concert which was organised by Zohaib in her memory, some 3 years ago. They showed it on tv but i missed it
Today is nazia's death anniversary. She was a legend, her music is still for ever young in the memories of her fans. May Allah ezo wajal grant her jannat on roaz-e-mehshar.
The kind of music Nazia and Zuhaib created in the 80s was simply phenomenal to say th least. They were the pioneers of the pop scene in Pakistan and after them so many new bands and solo acts followed, but the stuff Nazia Hassan sang will always have its special position in he hearts of anyone who can appreciate good music. It's really sad that she left us so soon, same goes for NFAK....these 2 are undoubtedly in their own unique ways among the most amazing singers we have had!
whenever i think about her or look at her pictures it's like as if ive personally lost something so precious to my heart. i have no clue why i feel this. i never met her or been to any of her concerts. only loved her music but it feels like someone my own who i have lost. she looks so familiar, so close, my own.
