Forever 21 Bags

I just noticed that on one of my old Forever 21 bags, it says “John 3:16” on the bottom part of it. Does anyone know why? I mean I know it’s a verse from the Bible but why is it on the Forever 21 bags?

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Re: Forever 21 Bags

hehe...reminds me when my friends went "bungee jumping" using a 2 seater that swings you upside down and all around in Panama City. The chair said John 3:16 at the bottom of it. So when we came back to the motel, we pulled out the Bible to read what the verse was and it made no sense as to why it was written on the chair.

Re: Forever 21 Bags

Never noticed it.

Re: Forever 21 Bags

john 3:16 is a popular verse...i've seen it on shirts etc... I always thought it was part of that whole "being a christian" born again mentality...

Re: Forever 21 Bags

Rukhsarbibi.... lol, good thing you didn't pick up the meaning... has to do with life after death, lol

EDIT: phatima... you, know, a company that is privately owned can put whatever they wish on anything they sell, it is up to the consumer to decide whether they will support the practice the company holds to, companies usually try to at least make money, if people won't buy, they won't do it.. Personally I think it is tacky to place a bible verse on a piece of merchandise like that, but people buy it.

It does make no sense however that they chose that particular verse, it made more sense to find it under the seat of the bungee ride....

amelie - a WWF wrestler ...ummm..... Stone Cold Steve Austin made the verse popular (with the spin off of Austin 3:16... can you tell I had a teen son at the time??) and people bought that shirt and other merchandise because of it, not necessarily because they were christian or that it was a popular christian verse (even though it is popular because it epitomizes what God did for us and what we shall recieve from him).

Re: Forever 21 Bags

UTD 3:16
"....and shall you bring UTD your women you will find everlasting peace when you had over your piece."

Re: Forever 21 Bags

hmm austin 3:16, man when i heard about that back then it didn't even cross my mind as to what those numbers stood for. it all makes sense now.

could someone please summarize what this verse symbolizes?

Re: Forever 21 Bags

it was probably posted on the bungee just for good luck, so that nobody gets hurt.

Re: Forever 21 Bags

^ smart guy :k:

Re: Forever 21 Bags

GOAT - ahhh no... I don't think so.. it is the promise we got from God for what we get when we die... placing that on the seat of the bungee ride was a twisted sort of joke in a way.... saying that you will still live in the afterlife... kind of inferring that you may die doing that....

phatima - Aishaa placed what John 3:16 is up there.. To myself anyway it seems pretty straightforward... It is meant to be a promise and a veiled threat from God to those who believe and those who don't....

Re: Forever 21 Bags

and how should we be so sure it is a threat from God, when it was ordinary humans who penned the verse down.

Re: Forever 21 Bags

Sharaabi - in your opinion, sure..... as I have said before, I do not disparage beliefs in any religion, whatever that may be.... kindly do the same here.

I am answering a question that was asked about a verse in the Bible, that is all.

Thanks.
