and yes, I know that western media can exaggerate and exploit, but there must be at least some truth to the report. I read the heart-rending novel “A Thousand Splendid Suns” recently and the Afghan-born and raised author wrote a brilliant novel about life as he lived it over there…and it jives with this sad news report.

Mama, I have many friends from Afghanistan where we're at; many of them come to the masjid with their children for Qur'an studies and we often talk about their country. One particular friend actually runs and orphanage and a home for widows back home. In fact she is currently there to check on things and take care of some property issues. She left her children here with her husband to go handle this but before she left she asked us to pray for her safety. Most of the widows she has have been raped at some point and she knows of many others who could use help but cannot reach it. It is sad, but true.

Sad extremely sad, and this country in 1970s was effluent and very peaceful.
We shud ponder, why is it in such a mess now?
