i'm NOT married so i have no input. my bhabhi never worked and she never asks my bro or my bro never asks where she or he has spent the money. its not polite to ask for Hisaab. Bhabhi doesn't even ask me for the left over money from shopping if i ever do for her.**

we both work and I dont keep tabs on her spending unless I think its getting overboard, it was the same way when she was not working and I was the only one working.

depends on what it is for, the timing and trends.
e.g. $x on kids clothes is fine if its at the beginning of the season lets say for winter they ned new coats, gloves etc etc
now if that same amount was here and there i would wonder if it is needed, or if a big chunk was just spent the month before..then i would think its overboard.

my dad is the earner in the family BUT my mum keeps all the hisaab in the sense that she knows where the money is going and what bills etc are to be paid..but my dad never asks to see this...he just trusts my mum to get on with it...he works and then my mum has 'control' of the money in the sense that she has the keys to the safe etc
however my mamu...he does the hisaab and asks my mami where each penny has gone...my other mamu in pak gets his bhabi (as in my mami who is married to my mamu) to do the hisaab...and one day a month she takes a day off from all the house work just to tell him where the money came from and where it has gone...extreeeeeeme!
