I am getting more than a few complaints every day about all those discussions. Mostly folks complain about particular posts and in some cases against other members who continuously post inflammatory stuff about the “other” sect.
One solution is to shut down all such contentious discussions. Personally I am against a complete shut down as that goes against the* reason d’etre* of a discussion forum. The other solution is to issue warnings to those who continually offend the other groups; and those who refuse to improve their behavior be shown the boot. And the last (and the most preferred) solution in my mind is that people should grow up themselves and stop the continuous taunting.
Make up your choice folks.
Tone down the rhetoric and make this a better place.

i think theres no real point of these general warnings, those who live for ribbing the "other" side will at best wait a few days, then get back to doing what they do.
not as if their kids who dont know what theyre doing.

I agree with Faisal's points. Time for all these people to grow up and realise that constant taunting and putting forward the sames points time and again doesn't resolve anything. Time for you lot to behave like mature people and realise that first and foremost you are Muslims and than anything else.

was just listening to the tilawah of surah taha on my way back from the office and wish to share with u the reply of Moosa (as) to fir'awn when he wished to drag Moosa (as) in to a similar discussion....
Quran 20:49-52
*(When this message was delivered), (Pharaoh) said: "Who, then, O Moses, is the Lord of you two?"
He said: "Our Lord is He Who gave to each (created) thing its form and nature, and further, gave (it) guidance."
(Pharaoh) said: "What then is the condition of previous generations?"
He replied: "The knowledge of that is with my Lord, duly recorded: my Lord never errs, nor forgets,- *
fir'awn dragged the previous generations out of nowhere into this discussion because he knew well that the history is uncertain and any topic can easily be derailed by dragging the previous generations into the discussion....
instead of replying with the answer "your forefathers were disbelievers and shall all go to hell for their sins" and angering those present in the court of fir'awn and losing the audience, Moosa (as) very neatly replied with what has come in the verse above....
maybe we shud all also forget the past and let Allah decide between them about who was right and who was wrong....
another interesting piece i read a couple of days back said "if u spent all your life and never sent laanat on fir'awn, nimrodd, and iblees and abu-jahal and abu-lahab, u shall not be questioned abou it on the day of qiyamah, but if u just once in your life sent laanat on someone not deserving of it, u shall be answerable for it on the day of qiyamah"....

Very nice post by armughal....infact i tried my level best to concentrate on the point that his issue had originally its roots in a jewish man , *abdullah ibne saba *, who started to divide the muslims to stop thier unbileveable conquests and also to take revenge of defeat of jews in khyber by muslims.... he came into usman(ra) regime..in medina ...make a plan... starting disgracing his governors and himself and atlast succeeded..as i quoted from shia great scholars books.....and this was not a new game thwse jews are playing ..they have a experience of more than 3000 years for planning such a vicious and complex acts......

I have not divided the people but have done my level best to be a curtain raiser of the history that all things which are written in shia history are mostly wrong or false colouration of the incidents...other factors also included like persian nationalism..arabian nationalism..etc etc... but it was just a tribal conflict even before prophet(pbuh) ...changed into political conflict at the death of prophet(pbuh) ....and thats all.... it has nothing to do with religion... all religion differences were created latter in safvaid period in iran and in latter period of baghdad dynasty....
I am not a scholar ..just a student ..... but my purpose .and my respectable friends like khanbabax and jan leva purpose is never ever to create fitna...we have tried to expose the true incidents which unfortunately many sunnis themelves do not know....... I request my all shia brothers and sisters that for god sake... see the history in true context ...there was nothing like any wali or wasi of prophet(pbuh) and are very good relations between ali(ra) and sahabas with core of heart ..not because of taqqiyya...your historians told them totally wrong for thier political intersts and nationalism jealousy.....

** I am not an expert on this topic so I would refrain from posting anything but so far as jews and their 'wandering' is concerned I have come to know that even it is stated in holy Bible that ultimately all jews will return to Israel. It is also true that many jews are in fact moving back to Israel. What's your take on this or for that matter of forum members ?

Oh well. This thread was started for a specific purpose and I appreciate the comments by armughal and others. Hopefully those who are constantly engaging in shia-sunni discussions, and many times are either just losing their cool or posting insensitive comments get the message to shape up or ship out.
However, if some of you wanna discuss judaism and Moses and all that, please start a separate thread, or if you want, I can split the above two responses into a new thread where you can continue this topic.

thankyou for reply... i do not want to start a new topic on judasim or jews but requesting my shia brothers and sisters that constantly argue that shia sunni division is just the response of snatching of caliphate and unjust **behaviour of 3 caliphs to ahle-bait which seperated the ummah...and they further claim that **how can a single man like ibne saba can do this alone... this argument is quite reasonable for a person who is unaware of jewish history but not for those who have a little knowledge, like me, on the jewish history...so i quoted some very** few references** from a long list of jewish history to show my shia brothers and sisters that this what nation has done all this things and shia sunni division task is just a child's play for them and they succedeed in it as i have given the references in a question to shia thread that kashi , thee greatest scholar of shia and others accepted this fact that ibne saba was the first person who started cursing of sahabas and ali(ra) ordered to kill him and he was the first who started the wasi and wilayat of ali(ra) concept on which the whole shia doctrine is based ..i have given the book name, author name, pg .no. the date of printing and year of printing and still if someones doubt ...then what can i do !!!!!!!!!!!!!
