For those facing problems and trials in this world, hold on and do not forget
Mus’ab bin Sa’d narrated from his father that a man said:
**“O Messenger of Allah(s.a.w)! Which of the people is tried most severely?” He said: “The Prophets, then those nearest to them, then those nearest to them. A man is tried according to his religion; if he is firm in his religion, then his trials are more severe, a****nd if he is frail in his religion, then he is tried according to the strength of his religion. The servant shall continue to be tried until he is left walking upon the earth without any sins.” **
[Tirmidhi - 2398]
Qatadah bin An-Nu’man narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:
**“When Allah loves a slave, He prevents him from the world, just as one of you prevents his sick from water.” **
[Tirmidhi - Book 28, Hadith 2168 Arabic reference]
Anas narrated that the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said:
**
“When Allah wants good for his slave, He hastens his punishment in the world. And when He wants bad for His slave, He withholds his sins from him until he appears before Him on the Day of Judgement.”
And with this (same) chain, (it was reported) from the Prophet (ﷺ) who said: "Indeed greater reward comes with greater trial. And indeed, when Allah loves a people He subjects them to trials, so whoever is content, then for him is pleasure, and whoever is discontent, then for him is wrath.**
[Tirmidhi - Book 36, Hadith 94]
We all face problems and trials. These trials cleanse us of our sins. Allah says in the Quraan
“And whatever strikes you of Museebah (misfortune, affliction, disaster) - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much.” [42:30]
Imaam Al-Tabari mentions in his Tafsir of this Verse says that the phrase “what your hands have earned” refers to your sins. Allah punishes you for your sins in this world. As a result of this punishment, the sins are effaced and we are free from the torment of the next world.
Additionally, the Hadith above show that those who are strongest in their faith, are tested the most.
Regarding the second Hadith, Ali Ibn Sultaan Al-Qaari explains in his book 8) that the meaning of “preventing him from this world” is that Allah prevents the slave, He loves, from the wealth of this world and from those other things which would hurt his Religion just like the family of a sick person withhold water from him when they know it will hurt him, despite the fact that the thing the sick person desires the most is that harmful water.
