For the lady who has everything...

What do i get as a gift?!?!?! :bummer:

My MIL is over for a couple of weeks… she always showers me with (exortionately priced) gifts… i always buy her the “usual” gift items here and there, but this time i am flummoxed… :konfused:

What is appropriate? Give me ideas!!!

PS: She is not desi, nor from the UK (so no adventure day suggestions… not that i could imagine her doing stunts on a plane, or doing a sky dive… actually i can imagine it and it’s funny :cb:).
PS2: Mods, move this somewhere more appropriate if you want, but i was thinking of a gift maybe beauty and fashion related… :@:

Re: For the lady who has everything...

give her cosmetics...aur perfumes or braclet or ur fav dress..in which u wan to see her....

Re: For the lady who has everything...

Adopt her a Polar Bear.

Green gifts are the way to be!

Get her a pearl necklace set if she is not desi. She will love it

You can find a lot of designs on google. Not sure if you can get an online shop for it.

Best of luck

Re: For the lady who has everything...

i lov pearl...:@:
hi FT kasi ho ap?

Re: For the lady who has everything...

I don't think you should compete to give as pricey gifts as she does. It's the thought that counts.

Re: For the lady who has everything...

hi there sana.... :@:

PS: Have sent you a pm :)

Re: For the lady who has everything…

FT - those pearls are beautiful! But she has loads… :frowning: (may buy myself some though:))

Sahar - Price is not an issue…be it reasonable or expensive, i just want to give her something i haven’t given her before :bummer:

Milly - She’s definitely not an animal lover… i can tell by the fur coats she has in her closet… :bummer:

Come on girls…any and every suggestion counts! :@:

Re: For the lady who has everything...

Adopt her a penguin, she cant wear a penguin!

Or, perhaps, get your daughters to make her something, it will have the 'cute' factor. Use lots of glitter!

Re: For the lady who has everything...

MP3 Player :P

Filled with Songz or Either Naat :D

Re: For the lady who has everything…

I’ve got it!

A Harrods personal shopper experience thingy thing!

You know where Al Fayed himself takes you around the store trying to nick your passport. Its perfect!

www.Harrods.com

Or, why not gift her a day at a top London Spa, how long is she staying for?

good idea////:k:

Re: For the lady who has everything…

Women always want more n more jewellary. I guess she will really like if you get her some different design / style / color she doesnt have before. Or steal one from her jewellary box and replace it with your gift  later return the other one too , saying you found it  … lol

Get her a brooch :@:

Or nice leather shoes with a matching bag and matching scarf . wah I wish if anyone had given me such gifts :bummer:

Re: For the lady who has everything...

Get her a creme de la mer gift set.

Or a residential cookery course at the Manoir aux Quat Saisons, by Raymond Blanc.

Or get book her a luxury weekend break somewhere.

Re: For the lady who has everything...

make a donation in her name to her fave charity

^ lol

Please stick with personal and not price!

  • Dip her favorite fruit in milk or white chocolate or both :), (Strawberries, raspberries, apples, oranges, etc) you can even add nuts and make a nice gift wrap.
  • If she is a kitchen person, you can get her a beautiful apron or even a canister set.
  • Pick her fav food, and get a cooking book on that subject.
  • You can personally make her a gourmet breakfast basket, (jam, special panncake mix, Maine maple syrup, some fresh imported cheese, flavorful tea's, etc) think exotic stuff, which is hard to find but in small shops or farmers markets.
  • Make cup cakes of her liking, and buy a beautiful stand for presentation, and later for her own use. (Everytime she will use it after, you'll be the first thing her in mind)
  • Delicate gold earings, which are just classic.
  • Nice jewelry travel case
  • Subscription for her fav magazine
  • A small photography session: like her and her grandkids, you and her (if your close), or the entire family together.
  • There is this fruit of the month thing, where you can have fresh exotic fruit sent to her throughout the year, usualy 4 times in the year. And as far as I know its free shipping.
  • A home spa basket you can also make yourself, everything from face masks to soothing bubbles to nourishing lotions

I think, that indeed is a great idea! She can look around and buy whatever she likes.

A genuinely antique compact mirror or at the very least something vintage looking if she likes makeup.

Givenchy vintage scarf - Rabbits, 120 Havemeyer Street, Brooklyn

Re: For the lady who has everything…

Milly, love your suggestion of Harrods, but to cut a long story short, she doesn’t like Al-Fayed’s new wife… friend of a friend and something or other happened bla bla…

I love the suggestions of something more personal Gaia… will definitely add some of those into the overall gift

MahiSmart: She’s a typical hoity toity french lady… she has china collections, those fabergé eggs etc… i don’t want to go into unknown territory as i have no clue when it comes to antique collectables :bummer: And i love your second post suggestions, but she could get those from France herself… i want something really …different…

Ahhhhhh this is so difficult!!! :frowning:

What about a sari or something desi? I’ve never (over the last 20 years) given her any desi clothing, jewellery etc… what about this? :hmmm:
