I was visiting my esthetician the other day for a pedicure and instead of the lady who usually waits on me, they offered up the services of a male esthetician. Solely based on my personal comfort level, I declined the services - no passing judgment on anyone who chooses otherwise.
So, for the guys, how comfortable are you - removing religion and hijab arguments from the equation (since I know the answer from that perspective) - having your wife or significant other receive personal services from a man? And yes, I know many of the guys offering personal grooming services do swing the other way.
And do you distinguish or are you more or less comfortable based on the services offered, i.e.,
my wife does not feel comfortable with male on these services. Off course you can not simply throw out Islamic prospective. May be she does not feel comfortable because of all the Islamic teachings which are in the back of her mind. At the time of our first baby, she registered her name into clinic where 100% doctors were women so that there was no chance of male being "on duty at THE time" (although that clinic was around 35miles from out place while city's largest hospital was around 5 miles from our place)
I myself dont go to female hairstylist and I have been keeping male primary care physicians all the way in the past.
I know my bf wud probly shoot me if i got anything dun by a male. But i dont mind him getting anything dun by a female, We went to get massages once, But they was jus females but he declined even tho i said its alright.
Seriously they work in a professional way, i dont see a problem with it, But hey each to their own.
Well i personally i dont feel comfortable with a male on these services. Actually when it i think about than on most services i have a women performing them, im more comfortable with women than men. My eye doctor, doctor, hairdresser and so on are all women. Its just my driving teacher who is a male, i wasent comfortable with him in start. But now i know him, so feel comfortable with him:@:
For the example I gave, a guy providing the pedicure treatment, the same thing happened to me when I was in India.
I asked for a woman to provide the services and she was booked, so they offered the services of a guy. I know it is not a Muslim country, but given the general conservative culture which still exists in the less urban cities of India (Bollywood lies), I was surprised at their shock when I declined to get my toenails done by a guy. I thought it would be sufficient for me to say that I'd be comfortable with the services of a woman but they kept insisting that he was really good at his job. They didn't seem to register that an individual, regardless of the religion or conservative/non-conservative nature may not want a guy for these services, if given a choice.
Many of my non-Muslim friends refuse to go to a male masseuse or esthetician or even a co-ed gym - it has more to do with who you're comfortable sharing your personal space with and at times a woman's body image.

Inida is STRANGE country when it comes to guys and girls mingling only because they are next door and we are their blood we don't find them weird.
its her choice, if she thinks she is comfortable and and ther is nothing wrong with it then so be it, i believe her, however majority of our desi kuriyaan are not the comfortable in such scenarios anyways so its not that big of an issue :D but i guess the only issue i will have is with a OB/GYN but then again .............
